My Nitrite has been climbing steadily rcently since treating wiht Kanacyn and some Ick meds.

The Ammonia is a consistent ZERO, but Nitrites keeps pushing .5 to 1.0 unless I change the water constantly.

I have to think that the Ammonia to Nitrite Bacteria are in good shape, but that somehting is supressing the Nirite to Nitrate bacteria.

I have lots of aeration and an Emperor 330.

I'm considering getting another 1 oz of Bio-Spira to see if it has any impact.

There used to be a product called Sure start as well.

I think the bio-spira is just for the ammonia conversion.

How long ago was the treatment and have you used anything to remove the meds?

Bio-Spira is for both conversions. It's also the only live bacteria on the market that I know of. There have been lots of enzymes and other things, but Bio-Spira is unique.

A couple of weeks since the meds, neither is SUPPOSED to harm the bio-filter. Just used carbon and water changes as prescribed to remove the meds.

I think I'll give the Bio-Spira a shot tommorrow. It's only like $12 for a 1 oz. I'd spend almost that much on a med if it was an infection.

I'm just worried that something is killing off one of my bacteria.

Please make sure to let us know what your results are with the Bio-Spira and the time it takes to get "back to normal". I'm interested to know how it goes.

Well, they were out of the stuff all over town, so I had to settle for doing nothing!

The Nitrites are back to zero today after a couple days of cloudiness which I will assume was a bloom of bacteria building up the colony. My Rummy-Noses seem particularly overrun with exuberance today. LOL Poor little guys. Rough few weeks there.
