Well, first off glad its still working ok, but what does this go to prove? Is this proves water changes on nanos are not necessary then I'm buggered with my nano, I was pinning all my hopes on water changes keeping my new scape algae free!

It has certainly filled out nicely :)

Looks great! How old is this system now? Nearly 5 months. It's maturing, that's the only explanation I can guess at. There's a time in a tank's life where it achieves a greater stability. For example, I don't really plan on my mother doing water changes on my 20g and 36g while I'm away for 2.5 weeks, and she'll only have to do maybe one on each of the nanos. Mostly, she'll have to do top offs because of evaporation. I expect some overgrown plants when I get back, but no major disasters. All my tanks are over 4 months old, I think and one is nearly 8 months. It's kind of nice really. A load off the maintenance shoulders. You could be just lucky, however. So could I.

I love the filling in, really pretty cool. How are the corydoras doing?

llj :)

Sweet Graeme.

I think your previous luxury uptake has equipped the plants with enough reserve to be ok with the no ferts, CO2 and water changes. After all your lighting level isn't very high so algae isn't so much a risk.

Water changes are often minimised in non-CO2 set ups, as the unstable nature of CO2 induced with each change will likely cause algae. If you carried on dosing ferts too with no water changes you would have seen algae.

So almost by accident you've maintained a state of equilibrium in your "neglect". Lucky you!

Scape is looking very nice considering BTW. The moss appears to have taken over somewhat, but this thrives in the said conditions.

Will you have more time on this now? Fancy buying my nano and gear?

Well done mate. Great to see an update.

Lookin great, I like what you have done with the moss. How are you finding the little corys?I have pygmys too and they are a joy to keep.

T, they are fine. These are the offspring of my more mature cory's, of which I bred from.

Goerge: I think your right freind. Luck has more than likely got to do with its currant state. I will have to get some Co2 very soon, dont know how long this can last. The moss is a little un ruley for sure. I kind of like it like that, but it will be trimed back. The more I trim the more it grows!!!
Not sure ill have more time for it. Looks like i wont be in my house until end of March, so ill see how it fairs. Selling your gear ahy? Is this to help fund your 6' tank? Hmmmm..............

Llj: The tank was up and running end of Oct, so its just under 4 month old, perhaps your right about maturity, it tallies up with what George says.

Sam: Cheers mate. Cant beleive how much you strugle with algea, doesn't make sence. Perhaps you should ditch doing EI and use branded fertalizers, and sort out your lighting. Dun know?

Any tricks to breeding them?2 of mine seem a bit larger/fuller bodied so im guessing they are female.I have onoy ever bred bronze corys and they bred after a waterchange.

Cheers mate will keep trying :) Ive not been a 'planter' for very long so plenty of time to learn ;)
