I was just showing him indoors, the blue assessor and how strangly he swims, I thought it was fasinating and was about to launch into a series of very interesting facts when I noticed a very glazed look come over his face and got the reply of, 'you haven't forgotten I am playing golf tomorrow have you'

Made me wonder, what do your significant others think of your fishy hobby?

She cannot understand it but did encourage me to buy 18 3ft tanks that were being sold by a LFS. She is now going to start having a few fish of her own. Fingers crossed she gets the "bug" too.

I don't drive so my partner has to take me to the LFS, luckily I am friendly with the owner so he tends to find her a chair. But then the kettle goes on.....


Safe to say that fish keeping is my hobby that my better half quite realistically acts to have some kind of intrest in...

Hopfully my daughter will have more sense.

I got my spouse more seriously into it and now I think it's worse than me! 5 tanks later and my spouse wanted another one, lol, I had to put a stop to it! IMO, 5 tanks is good enough(for me).

My wife claims to have no intrest at all but she has named each item in my tank.

I have always said to her "If you think the answer will shock you or you wont like the answer then don't ask me the question because I don't lie" so she never asks "How much was that" ha ha

My mrs loves it!! She does tend to encourage me to buy more if I take her to my LFS but when I've been without her she moans about how much I spent! Haha.

She only moans cos she wants to move!!

My other half blows hot and cold with my fish tanks. One minute she's really interested in them and the next she whinge's at me if I so much as open the lid. Half the time I'm only Checking to see if the protein skimmer cup is full.

But she does enjoy going to different aquatic stores and even sometimes buys a fish or 3. Usually incompatible ones behind my back!

She also moans when im on here funny enough as it's almost daily! But she can't complain too much as she's always on facebook!

My solution to that problem is breeding shrimp and selling them. The money I make off the shrimps balances out what I spend on the tanks...well sort of, lol. I see you have a shrimp tank, cha-ching!

My OH got me into the hobby originally ...Now he's the one asking me for advice , Though at times i see that glazed looked come over his eyes and his head rest against the back of the couch . I still ramble on about whatever i'm reading about . He says he takes it in but that's a load of tosh ! lol He just says that so i don't nip his head for not listening ! The Money side of things doesn't bother him as he blows his cash on mod's for his bike so i blow my cash on the tank (his cash too sometimes )

My OH shows no interest at all. Untill we have visitors, then it's "when littlemonkey" first got these they were only so big, now look at them. I must admit when we had power off most of the day, he was proud to admit that the tank temps did'nt go under 24dg. Sweet Huh.

Mines scared of fish

she wont swim in the sea because someone she knows got bitten by a fish and it grabbed on and wouldnt let go! She does quite like looking at mine though

I'm single but my sister has told me she doesn't want to ever hear about fish again lol

Mine loves them, in her words "If it were up to me I couldn't be bothered to keep them but I love them" I quite often sit on a stool in front of the reef tank with her perched on my lap staring into the tank over a mug of tea before bed. Her idea to go from a nano to 360l reef tank and she persuaded me to ditch the Rena Malawi tank and buy the 5ft Godiva instead.

I love my wife she's fab.
