What Does Your Other Half Think About Your Fish?

Go to the doctor's, come back saying you have that compulsive disorder thing and you MUST get what you want or you'll become suicidal.

say oh baby i love you so much you know........
i need to be a little more happy,,you know a new fish tank is all it will take,,,,cheaper than dimonds and shoes :D

or do what i did and go on about for a few months to the point were they think you waffling on and they say yeah ok...then go and get it....thats what i did...she came home and i was all :yahoo: :yahoo:
a she was all :X :grr:  :S   it was 5ft/2ft/2ft and stands about 6ft inc cabinet....
now shes all :hooray: :kana: getting all her work friends coming over to see it...

Its funny mine hated this hobby at first, but tolerated it. Now she is the one dragging me to shows, and sales. We are both equally into it now and its great. She has taken to it by learning all she can and is now someone great to bounce the ideas off of.

Although ... She thinks the 180 is as big as we need, but might consider getting one more

i live with my girlfriend and our 4 tanks in complete harmony. she's almost as into as i am. she's the one that convinced me to buy a 10 gal so we can breed guppys just last night.

Ahhh.... You're supposed to ask your partner? Oops. I've been married almost 30 years and after the first 5 gave up asking. He would just say okay later . Guess what later never got here. Now I just go out and do it and let him find out about it later. He can't even complain about the money because It's the money I get recycing which is all mine. Not enough at any one time to help with anything so he doesn't say too much just what something else to clutter up the house? P.S> he doesn't really care much for the fish but since me and the kids take care of them he just rolls his eyes occasionally.

the wife loves the fish she said i was only allowed 1 tank i have 4  :D

the fish pay for most of the habbit anyways

best thing to do is get the puppy dog eyes out

She loves the fish but hates it when I do my (very regular) water changes!

My tanks have been relegated to the upstairs study (ok, spare bedroom with a desk!) when we decorated downstairs. Now the upstairs is being decorated (apart from the, my room, study) so my route to the bathroom is like a Indiana Jones trail! And she is poised with the poisoned darts if I dare drip a drop

my other half doesn't live with me, but I am slowly trying to convince him to get a tank of his own. Mostly because he has more space and can have a bigger one than I can and I would get to have all the fun setting it up, teaching him about it, stocking and probably maintaining it (and obviously enjoying the fish).

At first he was very adverse to pets of any kind, but then had to fish-sit my betta for a month and admitted that he missed him when he was gone. I got some sparkling gouramis recently and a day after meeting them for the first time he texted me saying that he was tempted to come over to see the sparklers (no mention of seeing me).

He's obviously taken an interest, and has learnt quite a bit second-hand, but he hates to admit it.

Oh my husband better not ever hear about your wife's poison darts!! ;) Just the other night when I was starting to use my "manual" Python, aka not the one that attaches to the sink, when I was getting the siphon started, I accidently sprayed water all down the wall right next to the tanks. I hollered into the other room where my husband was "Hey, is it okay if there's water in the thermostat?" There's silence and then "WHAT DID YOU DO NOW????" Luckily for me, I'd already wiped most of the wall down before he got in there!!

I started off with a small one that I had before my other half and I met, then my dad decided that I could have his bigger tank so I had that. Then my partner and I bought a house. Well the tank form my dad didn't quite suit the decor of the living room ( :p ) so I went out with my dearest daddy and bought one with a cabinet that matched the room! Ohh but then I needed a baby tank! Really sweet grin got the other half to take me shopping for one. Then my birthday a few mates clubbed together so I could have a 30 litre Biorb for a sority and another sweet grin got him to buy me a baby biorb for my birthday!

He doesn't like having so many tanks coz "I hate to think what this is costing in electricity" but he is quite happy sitting in front of them watching the fish.
It's all about balance: I get 4 tanks + 2 empty and he can pick a couple of fish and name them! I think thats fair! x

My wife thinks the fish are great, just all the tanks have to go.

Actually my wife is a huge help with decision making regarding where I am going with breeding, tank arrangement for fishroom efficiency, sales, the current market and where it will be in 6 months, a year, two years...the list is endless. We are both members of the local club, she took on the position of secretary this past year, and is helpful in all aspects of what I am doing, as well as the club.

She helped me with my last fishroom rearrangement a year ago, which consisted of moving 16 or so tanks, all stocked. She's driven through some of the nastiest neighborhood in Chicago with me to find equipment that is nearly free. She drives to the next state with me to get seven 150 gallon tubs, helps load them in a truck, and helps unload them when we got home. Most recently she has tolerated five 40 gallon tanks sitting in front of the garage for a week. I pulled them out of the garage, cleaned them up, then pulled a back muscle the next day, making lugging them down to the fishroom a bad idea.

She basically tolerates my nonsense, laughingly calls it my midlife crisis. I guess she figures it's better than fast cars & wild woman.

She was never too keen but then I set her up an 80L tank last Christmas, now she's in the process of researching to get a 6ft marine tank
