Now my id sharks are going back tomorrow and I was going to get a lot of plants which dont need external co2. So I was only wondering if the two apples and the plec will be enough for completing my fish in cycle.

Yes, they'll produce plenty of ammonia. Hope you're keeping up with your daily water changes. Wouldn't it be best to return the plec as well, and get something smaller and more suited to your tank?

Whatever you say flutter. Though it was looking cute n happy. So should I get rainbows or neon tetras maybe. How many idk

Neons would be great for your tank. They're schooling fish so you want a minimum of 6, but ideally 10-15.

Not neon for a fish in cycle. You will find them dead in no time at all...

Oh Guys so whats the solution. The plec and the sharks are going so what is going to be there for the fish in cycle??
Anyways I googled and found this page http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_5/volume_5_3/stocking.htm
Now i a have chosen tiger barbs a total of 5. So I guess they will be more than enough right and no overstocking issues too. :) :)

What about the fishless cycle that's been recommended by pretty much everybody?

Now that I know what I know I couldn't possibly subject my fish to another fish-in cycle. It's cruel.

Thanks fizzle but I had opted that out long time back. Since my tank is small water changes aren't much of an issue. I needed someone for this hard phase in my life and now I have my tigers. Take care.

And now you've created a new hard phase in their lives.

Nice one.

Not to mention that having to do water changes AT LEAST once a day isnt exactly going to make your life easier.

The others were right about the neons. I forgot this is a fish-in cycle we're talking about.

Despite the "hardiness" or the fish that I did a fish-in cycle with, they died long before their approximate lifespan....good luck with your fish-in cycle...you will probably be replacing those tigers in about 6 months.

There aren't any plecs or sharks now. And I surely hope the tigers will be there for much more than 6 months. The cycle will be complete in say two more weeks, then there wont be anymore ammonia or nitrate issues to such extent. Got hold of a government run water testing lab. Dont know whether they can do check on my aquarium water.
