So many to choose from!!??

GET THAT ANGEL OUT OF THERE! There is no such thing as a dwarf angel! Why the heck do newbies make this same mistake over and over and over.

That angel wants to get big enough to not physically FIT in a 10G. A well kept angel can reach 9" tall easily.

Gabrielle, 25 litres is a pretty small tank.. size matters :p

i would say have a check first :)

GET THAT ANGEL OUT OF THERE!

Gabrielle everyone makes mistakes when they start off My local fishshop owner managed to kill 2 tanks of fry only a couple of weeks ago and hes been keeping fish for years and years. Therefore I advise you not to give up but maybe to take a couple of those fish back to the lfs if you can.Otherwise start saving for a bigger tank :D
By the way most people in here will give polite answers but unfortunately there are a few who, like him above, seem to think that rudeness is something to be admired which says more about him than the rest of us
.

Hey Gabrielle, im a beginner 2, and ive only kept fish for about 3 weeks. i have managed to keep msot of them alive(with a few exceptions) i have read alot of posts and these people know what there talking about. its weird but i feel like im taking an online class or soemthing due to all of the imformation flowing around in this site. Trust me, at least 3/4 of beginners have made the same mistake that you have. i tried to put a tiger barb with 2 platies in a 2 gallon tank!! of course i fixed that when i learned that 1)my tank was 2 small and 2)tiger barbs were agreesive. So i found a pet store that would take in my fish and i started all over again with a bigger tank so that my new fish would be happier and i would be happier knowing that my fish werent goig to die and be very unhappy. I have a recommendation 2. For a 5 gallon you could MABYE (everyone correct me if im wrong) return your fish since i dotn think that they ae meant for that small of a tank. And then get a couple of small fish like white clouds or you could put some small goldfish if you didnt have a heater. if you have a heater IMO you could get neon tetras, that may be overstocking but i think that 4-5 will be ok and they will be happy if you follow the rule 1" per gallon. make sure thou that you dont put any fish in there if oyur going to get neon tetras because that would definately be overstocking. For bottem feeder i wouldnt get a placo because of your tank size but you could get 2-3 ghost shrimp or 1 snail.arlight im going to stop blabering so other people can give there opinion and to make sure that i dont bore you to sleep! Hope i helped!! And Good Luck!!!! Dont give up you will be fine! :D

Whats a small goldfish? Must live in the same place as the faries, unicorns and hobgoblins :dunno: .

Feeders? They're anything but small. Common goldfish, get to 12''+. Would you keep several oscars in a 5g tank?

Yea they can get to theat big but that will not happen in such a small tank. yes it may be stunting there growth but its not killing them, besides it was a suggestion only if she didnt have a heater, she can put white clouds in the tnak without a heater so i would recommend more the white clouds. The only way a goldfish will grow to be 12"+ is if it is out in a pond. the largest possible length for a goldfish in gabrielles tank is probally 3-4 inches and that will tank years. ive had goldfish out in my pond for 2 years and they started at 2 inches and now they are around 4 so depending on how much gabrielle feeds her goldfish even if she decides to get them is about an 1"a year. And not to sound mean or anything (like i havnt already) is that im sure the goldfish will die in a couple of years whcih will mean that they will not grow to even 5 or 6 inches!

I bet a feeder would rather be eaten then live in a teeny tiny 5 gallon. I know I would.

that im sure the goldfish will die in a couple of years whcih will mean that they will not grow to even 5 or 6 inches!
And WHY should the goldfish die in a couple of years? A goldfish should live for atleast 10 years....

i guess i shouldnt of said "should" but could. i dotn think a fisdh would rather be eaten then live in a 5 gallon, those goldfish would be happy compared to people who put goldfish in fish bowls. but i guess that we all have our own opinions.

Right but Gabrielle may not know that you need a heater and in a 5 gallon you dotn HAVE to have one as there is not much water to heat and the tempuature will probally be a little under what you need

A heater is needed not only to heat the water, but to stablise the temperature. If the tank was formed on the guidelines of someone from a shop, its highly likely they would have made her buy a heater too. If she didn't have a heater they would probably have given her goldfish  .
