Hey guys,

I'm still a few years off buying predatory fish but I love to window shop on this website, so I can dream about my future tanks! The moment I saw a photo of a rainbow snakhead, I knew that i'd like to keep them in the future. Unfortunately it looks like they are illegal to keep in Australia, because a few irresponsible dickheads ruined it for the rest of us. I've done a quick google search but haven't been able to find out whether or not you can obtain permits to house them, and how expensive they are etc. Does anyone have any information on this?

Secondly, if they are illegal, could you please recommend some legal alternatives? I'm looking for active fish with prominant teeth. ;) I guess there are a lot that fit that criteria.

Cheers

Not saying this is the best thing to do but laws well where i live say you can't buy or sell so if you can find them for free try. or just buy them and own them illegally. but wolffish, pirahna, wolf eel and many others, I say that i have pacus to who ever says my pirahnas are illegal but i got them for free so its a little different.

i think you can get permits for them but itd be pricey , and no i wouldnt do the above , can get a very large fine ! it depends on the law where you are at i can imagine wether or not you buy them or find them for free its the owning which is also illegal. Like above poster a wolf fish would be good theres a small one that can fit in a 30-40gallon think its ery ery (spelling my be out not sure of the scientific name sorry). Best thing i would do is research the law then look into the fish you can have .
