Snail Problem

A few weeks ago I had to completely clean out my tank because it had a MAJOR snail problem. I cleaned it all out and got rid of every snail. I got new gravel and everything. I added a few new fish and everything is going great but recently I've noticed a few small snails appearing. I do not want to have another snail problem so what do you think I should do? I've heard of fish that eat snails called loaches, should I get one of these?

How big is your tank? if its big enough (at least 100 gallon) you could get a few clwon loach in their, they do eat snails, but there is no guarantee, the best solution is to pick em out by hand, you can salt dip plants i think too if you have any in their ?

Zebra Loach (Botia striata) is a fantastic little snail eating loach, growing to a maximum size of 4". I bought some a while ago and have had no bother at all with snails in my community tank since

Depending on the size of your tank they'd be ideal but do need to be kept in a small group.

I have just plastic plants currently and my tank is 20 gallons.

I would suggest 4 pea puffers in your 20 gallon tank. They will hunt down your snails in no time and when your are certain there is no more snails, they are easy to re-home if you don't want them anymore!
There is very good demand for dwarf puffers!

Assassin snails eat pest snails. Did a fine job for me, once they've got rid of the pest snails, they'll eat any bits of left-over food on the substrate. They don't breed as readily as a pest snail either, but any babies that you do get are sellable.

Ok thanks guys if i get loaches what should I feed them? Are they bottom feaders? If so I already have some algae wafers i feed my corys.

Put a piece of lettuce in at lights out, weigh it down with a stone or something, when you remove it in the morning it should have lots of greedy snails on it. The snails were probably introduced to your tank on something, in the form of eggs, snail explosion usually caised by overfeeding, Assassin Snails will do the trick, I can sell you a couple for £1.00 each (very cheap solution)

the lettuce leaf in a bottle works
well to trap snails you see they find
there way in but find it hard to
get out mind you it as to be a glass
bottle other wise you'll be on all night
trying to to get it to stay on the bottom
it dose work i have used this method
before

Hey, just to let you know I bought 6 assassin snails a week ago and all my horrible little snails that were over-taking the tank are now all gone! What a great purchase! They definitely work fast and very effective so would recommend to anyone.
