I just thought I'd share some pictures of my favorites from the shelter. They're a huge part of my life, and some will actually be my dogs, if they aren't already.
Here's Bailey, she's a pretty old girl and hugely overweight, we've tried everything and had her to tons of vets. She just keeps getting worse, lately she's been miserable. We think it may be time to just let her go. But we're spoiling her as much as we can. If she lives longer she will be coming home with me as she's one of my favorites. But I have my doubts.
Kenny here with the googley eyes came in a couple years ago. He's terrified of just about everything and everyone until he gets to know you. But he hates cameras. We always joke that one day his eyeballs will just fall out!
Ceasar here was one of my favorites, and the one that took a huge chunk out of my hand(totally on accident he meant to get the dog that stole his toy but got my hand instead). He came in with two other shepherds both females one white and one silver and black. He and his other white sister never left my side while they were at the shelter. I always had them out with me off the leash, luckily they both have great homes now.
This is my Ziggy, another one that is bound for my house if he doesn't get another home. He was a stray but we know where he belongs and he had an absolutely terrible life. He's so greatful at the shelter and loves it there. He's another follower of mine, and he's constantly my loving companion.
Smoothie was brought in as a stray and covered with fleas. This is her saying, "Thanks for getting those bugs off of me!!"
Shiloh was brought in as a stray, and he's an older boy so his chance of adoption is pretty slim since no one wants the older ones except for us workers.
"Hey whaduya doin?"
This is Chrystal, she got adopted yesterday, but she really had a lovely smile! She came in because the woman decided that she could no longer afford her.
This sad face was a stray, but she looks terrible, with mange, and she had eye infections and ear infections. This is right after she came in. I took the picture because sometimes sights like this really make people change their minds about shelters, and what we see, and go through. She however looks tons better today, and is recovering very well.
Charlie was abused and was brought in by the man that had been abusing him. He was so terrified we couldn't get him out from under this chair for days. Now he's in a happy family with a life that is close to heaven.
Cruiser was found as a stray and is terrified of being on a leash. We had a terrible time getting him into the shelter. But now he's all smiles.
Mandy beagle, cuddles up in her dog box on a cloudy day. She was a stray and brought in by the dog warden. She's been at the shelter for quite a few years. And still to this day if she hears Skip the dog warden pull in she goes nuts, she simply hates him for bringing her in.
Here's another Ziggy, we had him as a puppy and that scar on his nose is from the man that owned him before we got him. He wrapped a piece of wire around his mouth to keep him quiet. Now he has a life long scar.
Ol' Grandad here is a great example of how people throw away their dogs when they get older. We found him as a stray, and he was in terrible shape. We kept him for a few weeks at the shelter. And eventually we decided to euthanize him because he was just so sick.
And of course my Scooby, most of you know his story. Chained outside as a puppy he never got socialized. He's a little nutty but will be coming home with me asap. Since I'm the only one he listens to and won't bite. But I'd rater him have a great life with me than die now. He really deserves a chance.
