i dont get how the siphoning works, whenever i try it only half the bottle fills with water and nothing in the gravel gets sucked up...

Not really necessary to buy a python with 10 gallon tank. maybe some can help us here......

I never use regualr siphon.

But if you ever decide to get bigger tank invest in a python

alright thankx, ill get that for my next tank :)

other then that, if anyone uses a regular siphon for a 10g tank i would appreciate some help xp my arm is dyinggg from pusshing the thing up and down the water :X [with no success]

I own tanks ranging from 1 gallon to a 55 gallon and i use syphones with all of them and it works out fine. First, if your python state that it's "self starting", then you have to strongly push the siphon up and down in the water at a angle until the water passes past the valve inside or you can try starting it like a regular syphon: suck(or create some sort of suction) at the end of the tube until it starts flowing into the tubing. To stop it, just pull the syphon out of the water or kink the hose. :)

suck at the end of the hose? lol okay ill try that and the angle thing hold on =]

put one end of the tube in the water (with the gravel cleaner on it) and keep the other end slightly above the waterlevel. suck until the water is close to your mouth the stop :)

the water will stay in the tube. put your thumb over the hold and lower it to a bucket. remove your thumb and you should be off.

I have one of the self starters and i find it scares the fish, shaking it up and down.

k the suking thing activated the a little of it, now to get the guppies out of the way :grr: hm its partially working but i dont see any poop flying in the tubes and the rockx keep getting stuck and i havta keep shaking it off

uh oh oh oh oh ohhoh i was typing and i didnt realize it would keep sucking .... so it overflowed the bucket -_- brb the guppies enjoy hanging around it :D

doh

you need to keep pulling the cleaner up and down in the gravel - moving it about.

and just pull in out of the water to stop it.

uh oh i forgot to locate my ghost shrimp :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: my filter doesnt seem to enjoy the siphoning tube i think ill unplug it for now
