i was out two nights ago and left my flat mate to feed the fish in my small tank, unfortunatly he over fed them....................when i got in i found all of the fish especialy my debowi cat looking really, really fat, there was also a few flakes at the bottom of the tank.

i cleaned the tank yesterday to get out the loose flakes and decided not to feed them for one day, i was hopeing that there tummys would go down after that.........but this plan hasnt worked.

they all apper to be ok and are begging for more food

i was wondering if i should feed them today?
also should i be worried about them getting blote now, and how can i spot this starting?

Let them beg.

Don't feed them today.

Tomorrow, feed them some frozen peas. Thawed and with the skin removed.

It will help with constipation.

Your fish should be fine. :)

Keep us posted.

oh dear :( to stop that happening in future, before you go away measure out the appropriate amount of food into a bag/pill box/ whatever. hope they're ok :)

Thanks for the advice
ill try the pea's tomorrow :kana:

what other veg can you feed fish, i tried cucumber but none of them (in both of my tanks) would touch it -_-

what fish do you have? plecs and the like will often eat cucumber, zucchini and broccoli, but they like it blanched because otehrwise it's too tough for them to chew. you might also want to cut the skin off to get rid of any pesticides or whatever on the outside.

i've also heard or people feeding melon and tomatoes. if you do a searhc for them on this forum, you might be able to find some more info about those, such as what fish like them and how they were prepared.

Yeah. You should measure the correct amount of food and put them into baggies or pill boxes. That way, no one over feeds them!
