Sick Betta

How is fish, is he still resting.

He's hanging in there! He's taken to propping himself up on the top of the heater so he can get to the surface easier and he actually swims away from the net when I go to get him so I can change the bowl water instead of just lying there. He's still got some fight in him! I'm gonna let the Maracyn 1 treatment end on the 21st (10 day treatment) then switch him to Maracyn 2 (which I just picked up today). Thoughts?

I believe you can use Maracin 1 and 2 simultaniously. So you could probably just start him on the Maracyn 2 now even though Maracyn 1 is in the tank, but DOUBLE CHECK THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE DOING THIS!!!

Sorry for the caps but wanted to stress that.

You can use maracyn one and two together.

Eh the treatment ends in a couple days so I'm just gonna wait till it ends so I don't get stuff mixed up. Oscar's looking a lot better. Far from perfect, but better.

Oh and joy of joys, my other betta Oliver started showing signs of fin rot so I isolated him in a makeshift hospital bowl as well.
Started treating with Melafix and Maracyn because he seemed fine aside from the bit of rot.

Problem is, Oliver's starting to get these cottony patches on the ends his tail fin and anal fin. They're not huge but they're noticeable, they kind of cling to the ends of his fins.

What is this? Should the Maracyn 1 help it? Or will I need to dose with Maracyn 2 as well?

:shout: :shout: :shout:
So frustrating! Everything that can go wrong is going wrong.

Cotton patches is generally signs of a true fungal infection. If that is what is going on, neithor Maracyn 1 nor Maracyn 2 will help with that. You need to treat with a fungal medicine. If you want to stick with Mardel products, which as you are already treating with Maracyn 1 would suggest, they make a product called MarOxy. It is reccommended to add eithor Maracyn 1 or 2 in conjunction with MarOxy to prevent secondary bacterial infections. If it is not a true bacteria, which usually shows as grey or white patches (but not cottony in apperance) then Maracyn 1 should do the trick.

I have Jungle Fungus Eliminator.. should I treat him with that and Maracyn for the fin rot he had started to get?

A true fungus is very rare.
Columanris is very common as it lives in your tank water.

Maracyn one and two.
Forget the melafix it's overated.

Gave Oliver a salt bath, then put him in with the Maracyn/Fungus Eliminator combo.

Oscar's looking good- he ate 4 pellets today- first time he has eaten since he got sick!

Bless him, it's horrible when your fish are ill good luck sound's like you are doing everything you can.

What a beauty, my thoughts are with you. At least he is now eating, surely a good sign I have sent him an angel.

Bless Him.
Good Luck.

The fish are doing well! Oliver's rot seems to have stopped and I'm not seeing anymore fungus/the fungus that he had! He's perked up a lot.

Oscar's looking great, his Maracyn 1 treatment ended today and I started his Maracyn 2 treatment 2 days ago... he's doing excellent. His fins are growing back a little. Should I do the 5 or 10 treatment?

Glad there signs of improvement.

Carry on the with full course. Don't want to cut the med to short for it all to flare back up again.

Update:

Pics taken yesterday. Oscar is back to normal and regrowing finnage. Oliver's fungus is gone and finrot is healing. Both were returned to their respective tanks today.
