Some lovely tanks on here!
I've only been into this hobby for a year and it's a steep learning curve but loving it, my main 125L tank below.

I'm not sure entirely. Got it from Petsmart. It was just labeled an "algae eater". Fiesty little sucker!

Yes you are right, Chinese Algae eater. Just looked him up online. Thanks

No problem, just make sure you throw some algae wafers in the tank or he will try to eat the slime coat off of your fish

Seems a bit like overfeeding to me.

Tom

I give mine one wafer each and whatever they don't eat the snails clean up, sometimes my platies like to munch on them as well

Even for a 12" pleco? he eats a lot. the wafers are gone within 10 mins from the light going off. and when I feed cucumber I don't give wafers. sound right? or still sound like over feeding?

Tony

sorry, I guess I kinda worded that wrong, I always keep track to see what they eat within five to ten minutes, if they dont eat it all I net it and throw it away. With the cucumber I slice a chunk in half stick it low with a dull fork and tie it off in the corner and let it sit for about 6-8 hrs.

Hi all!
I am new to the site and I just want to say, WOW there are some awesome fish tanks in this thread! My tank has been up for about 18 months now. Have changed it quite a few times but I think i have finally got it all settled! I have 4 clown loaches, 1 black ghost knife, 1 rather large pleco (12" or so) and a few tetras and glowfish. It is a 55Gal tank. Not big enough for me. Looking to upgrade to 250gal. Here are some pics. hope you enjoy!

He's a Chinese Sucking Loach. The name is deceptive as they're not actually loaches! They are fantastic algae eaters though! They can be slightly aggressive though when they mature, depends on the individual fish. Mine was very aggressive, especially towards my poor betta. He kept the tank spotless though. Make sure he's well fed and has plenty of space and he should be ok.

O yea he does a great job of cleaning. They all have there unique personalities! Cant wait for spring so my big pleco can go back out in the pond. Afraid he wont fit in the tank by fall though!!!

goldfish are NOT a tropical fish and keeping it in a heated tank will severly shorten the fishes life

Hi, it is NOT a heated tank, all the fish live happy at room temp (no heater).. (also the danios are from the coldwater section (pets@home)..
