I've seen sucessful attempts, and well I'm going to try. I have a good sized tank for two, and well. Should I? I will keep them each in seperate tanks. For a few weeks I'm going to see their personality, and how agressive they are. :)

Should I, should I?`

Could you point me in the direction so I can find out about these successful attempts? I've never known a true case of it, I've seen siblings kept together for a few extra weeks, sometimes a month or two longer, but putting two randomly bought males together? No.

Trying to annoy the forum and cause problems? Yes.

Seriously, sssh.

No, no, no, and no.

Sorry but I think the only answer you will get from this forum is no, put a divider or diveders in the tank depending on how big it is, you might think its cool to try and I can see the appeal of two living together but there is a 99.9% chance your beautiful fish will end up very damaged and one of them possibly killed. They are nick named fighting fish for a reason.

Arghhhhhhh not somone else trying to defy nature. If males were meant to be together we wouldn't all be spending a fortune on dividers or more tanks and heaters, and i'd have lots of room in my house instead of millions of tanks. (ok ok, slight exageration ) Even if they seem the sweetest of sweetest fish in seperate tanks they will change into aggressors when in same one. I have enough trouble with my females beating my males up and the damage they do in just a few mins isn't good and even then they have been geting on well while females been tubed. So i dread to think how bad two males together would be. Makes me feel sick to think bout it really. Sooo the answer is nooooooooooo as everyone else is saying.

Theres a video on YouTube showing two males in a tank together supposidly "In peace" with a bunch of other fish. The males didn't seem to mind each other (from the other side of the tank may I add), though when one got to close, the other flared and chased it. The one being chased was desperatly trying to get away and the one chasing wouldn't give in.

It takes a moment to look away and those fish could suddenly turn. I'd just hate to wake up in the morning and find something dead.

People who purposly go out of their way to cause tension between fish are looking for trouble.

To be fair it can be done, if you have a HUGE tank.
And i am talking big, and heavily decorated/planted.

Even then, you can expect aggression.
Not many people bother, as anyone with a HUGE tank will tend to keep bigger fish.

And as we all know, there are few big fish that wont hassle smaller fish (like a betta)

Oh dear oh dear.......I think by even asking the question you realise its a flippin stupid idea. There is a really BIG clue i their name, FIGHTING fish????
Put it this way, by even attempting to keep them together you are putting them at risk. That means you will not be providing proper care for them, which means you would be guilty of cruelty.

With reference to "Youtube" videos........you are only seeing a small snapshot, who knows what happens after the video ends?

However, the fact that the OP hasn't replied yet may indicate that a troll is at work here????

P.s. I would like to know where you have seen "sucessful attempts"?

Why would you want to keep two fish together, who will likely kill each other, or at the very least, be extremely stressed due to tank conditions?

I'd just like to say: 'all of the above'.
I won't even include the horrified shrieking.

What do you mean by good sized tank? If it's smaller than the average bedroom, forget about it. It seems to me that the only reason anybody would attempt to keep two males together is for the sake of being able to say 'ner ner, everybody says you can't do this and I did it, up yours!' It's not like it's hard to use dividers or to buy smaller tanks. TBH I just don't understand why else you would try to do this. In a tank that size there are lots of other fish you can keep that would be far more interesting IMO. To put two males in one tank it would necessarily be so large that you would never see them - so where's the enjoyment in having them in there?

If you cared the slightest bit about your bettas, you would not even think of doing something so risky. It's obvious that you should not even own pets. You are basically asking if it's ok to put two big male lions in a small cage together. This is ludicrous...
The following quote is from Tropical Discussion:
Tetras? Those are beautiful if you get plenty of em. :) What size is the tank? Also, if you don't want fish to breed, why not get swordtails? (Male). Male swordtails have a tail, shaped as a sword! :) its beautiful. Guppies work too, but you'll probably get a bunch of little ones. Uh, If your tank is smaller, look into goldfishes. Fancy goldfish. (Theres a wide variety of em, I think. Research into them a bit more.) A betta or two might be able to work together. :) I have had my bettas (male) live in the same tank as tankmates. :) They're gorgeous, too due to their outstanding colours.
According to this, you claim to already keep them in the same tank. So why are you even asking if you're going to do it anyway?
Also, I read all of your previous posts in TFF and you REALLY need to take better care of your fish. One water change a month is not nearly enough. Seriously, do a lot of research and follow it!
