Hello Everyone!

Well this is my first post in the Fish Forums so please bear with me. Not only am I new to the forums but the hobby as well.

Ok, I have been told by many that the Fluval FX5 filter is the way to go. My question is, while seeing them online as well as in a few local shops for around $299.00, I have noticed a couple of people on Ebay with auctions starting at $155.00 + $39.00S&H which comes out to somewhere around $200.00.

I was wondering if these Ebay Sellers are legit? If so, it seems like quite a savings.

Thanks for any help.

(BTW, I will be setting up a 125g African Cichlid tank.)

ohh no not a Fluval FX5 post ahhhhggg

lol sorry , just there has been loads of posts on tff about fx5s. "Fluvals are crap get a eheim " etc etc lol. Eheim lovers please don't start again!!!

the chapest is about £116 plus postage in the uk so that works out at about the same, just check the sellers feedback on ebay , most ppls is quite good. Besides if you pay by paypal and get ripped off you can start a dispute. This is unlikely to happen though , most ppl on ebay are legit.

Hope this helps a bit

Here we go wit the exageration BS again. I know tons of people with fluvals running them for 5+ years. I can say it again, I have my 304 for 7+ years and it still works like its brand new.

To the OP. I got my Fx5 from Monster-Pets-Store on ebay.

Fx5 was $130 and $39 for shipping in the states. He has more too. Lots of good positive and I got mine real quick.

You can find my thread called "fluval Fx5 vs Rena Filstar Xp4" and all my reviews of both are and will be there.

I personally like the Fx5. Super quiet and does a great job on my 55 with 20+ Mbuna.

This.

And what's up with the "fluwho"? It's like a humorous play on words; without the humour. What are you, 12?

I never got the whole Fluwho either. Atleast make something up so it makes sence.

Forget the fluval and the eheim and get a tetratek 1200. Had mine for a few days and its not broke down yet :p

You will never get an unbiased answer re this filter, there are far too many filter snobs. My suggestion would be to think about what it is you want to keep fishwise. If you are going for something like T1K then id seriously look at an Eheim, if however you are going to keep smaller fish that make less waste then the FX5 will do fine.

Do a forum search re your question as there have been at least 5 threads asking the exact same question in the last 4 weeks.

In my personal opinion the filter is the 2nd most important piece of equipment behind the tank itself so i personally wont shave cash on it. I always by eheim and they have all lasted me years. No one can say the same yet regarding the FX5 as its far too new to make that comparison.

All i can say is think about it carefully before spending the cash.
