yeh go on then qoute what i said i rember saying in another thread that i maintained a freind fx5 and i had to go back every few month to sort out a noise it was makeing

all thats inside the sponge filter is sponge which makes it more expencive in the long run you need to change the sponges the efisubstrate pro in a pro3 last for ever

please dont tell me you are the same guy running a fx5 on a 50g tank and thinks its great

we are all able to make up our own minds on a filter and pass on the info to people thinking of buy a filter and IMO the fx5 i a ugly septick tank look pile of junk that wont last more than 5yrs and the pro3 will last 10yrs +

thats what forums are for sharing what we think they have nothing to do with spelling or grammer

so what if i cant spell i can take care of a tank very very well and thats all that matters on a fish forum

  That is the funniest crap I have ever read. Change the spunges? Hagen used the same type of meterial in their 04 and 05 series filters. Guess what, my 304 has the same spunges it had when I got it. There is absolutly no reason to replace the spunges. This proves you have no idea how to maintain a filter properly.

And yes this is the same guy that has it on the 55 and thinks its great. Regaurdless of what tank size it is I have over 20 mbunas in that tank and it does real well at half flow. Are you going to use this as an argument as to how the Fx5 is horrible too? If so, you snooping real low for issues.

this goes to show you no nothing about filters the sponges go limp and lose shape over time FACT and they need replaceing read you crappy fx5 book it will tell you the same thing

why do they even sell the blue sponges for ehiem if they dont war out

now were is this qoute about me not opening a fx5

no i have a boy who can spell thinks he knows more about filters than me

Here is the quote
think the fx5 is alot harder to clean than that you probably need to dismantle the whole filter thats why the eheim is designed the way it is you dont need to go near the bio media with the pre filter on top

Your right, the could go limp, get permenantly clogged or loose shape. That doesn't go to say that they will.

I'm still waiting for some kind of proof that they will not last for x amount of years as well as rational reasoning behind why they're "crappy" because they're not as good as a more expensive filter.

"eheim 2080 cycles a tank faster and supports a much larger bioload. Taken from a reviewer: eheim will process 123 PPM of ammonia every 24 hrs, fluval fx5 will process 37 PPM of ammonia"

hears a qoute from someone else whats the point in a filter if it cant get rid of the basic stuff like amonia and nitrite

that qoute doesnt show that i havent opeed a fx5 if you read the rest of that thread you took that qoute from you will understand

for me the fx5 is a pile of crap and people should be told that when shopping for one i wonder how much a sponge set cost for the fx5

18 months and the fx5 has problems

i saw your reply chean the hoses thats not such a easy task when you are useing ribbed hoses that are ment for pond use

Only ever owned Fluval internals, which have been great to me and Eheim externals which have been great, so cant really add to the debate, but its always an interesting read.

I must say, highlighting spelling to get "one up" on someone is...... well..... not the kind of quality you want to be displaying really.

I certainly wouldnt take spelling into account when looking at feedback on a fish forum.

Someone can give their advice and view, its up to the other peep if they want to take it on board

Have a nice day peeple

my spelling may be bad maybe its because i spend to much time with my fish and not at school the joke is they know what i was saying even if the spelling is bad

im probably older than both of them boys and probably have been keeping fish a lot long to

im 40yrs old and have been keeping fish since the age of 12 and rays since i was 16 i think im old enought to spot a crap filter when i see one

Funny, I havn't seen an issue here yet.

You turned what you said around and through a blanketed statement out to cover up. How can you say you "probubly" have to dismantel the whole thing if you already know what to do?

i saw your reply chean the hoses thats not such a easy task when you are useing ribbed hoses that are ment for pond use

I have cleaned them before in my older 304. Same type of hose, just smaller. There is a trick to loosen up everything. You can even spray water into the hose to remove everything.

I would have thought you were 14 years old by the way you are acting.

your just a man who loves that quote button

as stated above we are all intitled to own opinion its a crap filter thats my opinion END OF

You're 40 years old and you cant tell the difference between "hear" and "here?"

right i'm closing this now as its starting to get personal.

For those that support the fluvals think of this, if you had owned 2 cars from a manufacturer which had both broken down and been unreliable would you recomend their latest model to someone if the were thinking of buying one?
Fluvals have a proven track record of being unreliable as many posts from many members can prove, it takes years of improvement to undo damage done by poor reliability in the past so some people are skeptical about the long term performance of the FX5. Only time will tell if this will be changed, but i myself wouldnt let a fluval through my front door let alone fit one on any of my tanks.
