If the guy wants to get a FX5 let him , he is new to the forum and probably dosent want to be baffled by other filters and to be honest im sick of these 'fluwho' lol arguments.

Some ppl prefer eheim and some prefer fluval . simple.

and i am sick of ppl critisising Fluval when they don't even own one so there clearly not speaking from experience.

as far as i can tell you dont need to spell to see the pro3 is a much better filter

as you said the guy is new to the forum and we wouldnt want his makeing a bad mistake when buying the kidney of his new tank

some people hear even brought their fx5 2nd hand it makes you think why was the seller selling it in the 1st place

LIKE I HAVE STATED BEFORE YOU DONT NEED TO SPELL TO BE ABLE TO KEEP A TANK WELL

AND KNOW A CHEAP BUDGET FILTER WHEN IT SLAPS YOU IN THE FACE

the fx5 has a massive price drop from the day it was put onto the market why you have to ask yourself because it not selling or its just plain crap and fluwho are thinking of putting a newer updated model on to the market

you have to result to personal insults about my spelling when you are trying to fool yourself into thinking the fx5 is great

if it such a great filter at such a great price why did you have to buy yours 2nd hand if the price is so great

thats like £65 thats a real budget filter

For retailers, its all about quanity discounts for them. The more they buy and sell the less they have to pay for each unit. A lot of times retailers mark up almost 30-50% of what they actually get it for to sell it on their floor. So just because this ONE guy decides to be smart and can sell more for less and make more money in the long run doesn't mean the price went down that much everywhere. I still see them for 200-300 all over the place.

Personal insults are all that's left because you seem incapable of stringing together a coherent and objective argument towards why the FX5 isn't good. Comparing it to a more expensive filter that's designed to filter larger tanks - means nothing. What you've read on some forums from twelve year olds who can't set up a filter properly - means nothing. Your ignorance and lack of understanding of marketing on the other hand, means a lot.

No one said that the FX5 was better than your precious Eheim, so pull your pole out; just because something is better than something else doesn't mean that the lower quality product is useless.

while im typing though the fx5 and 2080 are rated for the same size tank so comparing them is very fair IMO

You've never used one... how do you know it won't last? I asked for proof not speculation based on ignorance.

i have maintained a fx5 at my freind house i just dont like them IMO which i am more than able to state

if you go on fluwhos track record they dont last what proof have you got the fx5 will be any diffrent to any of their other filters

theirs a start for you 18 months old

There is no proof of the motor being at fault yet and if it is, he just got a bad motor. This doesn't deam all others to be bad.

You got it. The children almost act like we are saying the Ehiem is a POS compaired to the Fx5. Poor fellas. They get all red in the face over nothing.

I forget if it was you or someone else but who ever said that the Fx5 is a little over rated for tank size I agree with. Hagen could have did the design differently and could have had it hold a lot more media then the 2080.
