Setting Up The 29g. Totally Psyched I Have Saltwater In My Living Room

lfs didn't have much in the way of snails. Just margarita and astraea. I've read that margarita's natural habitat isn't the tanks we provide. They go into warmer waters temporarily but its not their permanent home. They live shorter lives if kept in the tropical tanks long term.

I picked up 5 more astraeas. Haven't had a single one tip over.... yet

What in the hell is that

It's about 1/8th of an inch long or .32cm. It looks clearish grey and has 2 antenae sticking off in the front. Antenae are longer than the critter is. It's just running around my lr. Not swimming (at least at the moment).

Any idea...amphipod or something?? I thought they swam  This creeps me out b/c I don't know what it is for sure and there's no way I can get a pic :S  :/

It almost looks like a rolly polly http://images.google.com/images?q=rolly%20...l=en&tab=wi

except it's clear and has longer antanea. What you think?

Probsbly a Stomatella, first time I saw one they freaked me out

Your gobies are lovely, they are fasinating little fish

Truck, I have a dracula goby who is friends with my fire shrimps - they clean him all the time and he appears to enjoy every minute :good: so you could just try a goby and see if he makes friends with your fire shrimp if you don't want a pistol shrimp

a yellow clown goby is in the stocking plan

Seem to be just fine. I tried to take a video of them when I fed them last night, but they are camera shy. Saw me and wouldn't make an appearance. Next time, maybe :)

This tank evaporates a lot. I top off usually once a day. Twice on the weekends when I'm home more.

I'm keeping my eye on a 30" 250 watt lighting unit that comes with a 15,000k bulb. If price stays right, I'll bid at the end. I also have a few questions in that I'm waiting to have answered.

Could be an amphipod, pretty big one, but you don't have any predators in there atm, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it is. Looks like Diatoms to me

Woohoo :yahoo: I have a video of both gobies eating :yahoo:

One of them is quite the scaredy cat and the other is pretty brave :)

Should I name them Mickey & Minnie? The shrimp will be pluto  I think it sounds cute

The tunnel that the one comes out of on the left side of the video is new. I'm thinking the shrimp must be excavating down there. It's been a few minutes since my upload is slow and whenever I've passed my tank (living room) the one goby has been poking out of the hole in the front of the tank.

Love that photo KJ.

Tried to look at the videos but when you open them it has replay on it, when you click on replay you get about 1 second then it stops and says replay again.

Lovely gobies

Which one is mickey and which is minnie? Have they found your shrimp yet? fingers crossed it won't be long.

Videos are great, they are really quick - blink and you'll miss them!
