welll I've been looking for a nice betta to buy or pr and i found this one,

http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auc...tasd&1104930300

but after i placed my bid i saw that she doesnt have and feedback and here description of the bettas wasnt very..descriptive, just says male, and that shipping was 5.00 which i thought was pretty cheap. but unthing just doesnt feel right about i anymore. -_-
so i was wondeirng whats your opinion about it?

Well, you entered into a contract by bidding on the fish - you'll have to follow it through or face negative consequiences, such as bad feedback and the aquabid forum members telling everyone they shouldn't sell to you.

The fish looks okay to me. The shipping's cheap, but there is an option to "ask the seller a question". I would use that option.

well, i hope it works out for you... i had been thinking about bidding on one of her other butterfly males... shipping for $5 would have to be priority mail rather than overnight, i would definitely email the seller...i have had good results when i i've done that...

Absolutely email the seller and get all the details of the transaction. rancho cucamonga does have a home page for the city. You can find it here
http://www.ci.rancho-cucamonga.ca.us/index.htm. City name and zip match up but other than that, (pretty easy to fake, just as it's pretty easy to find) get the sellers phone number and give them a call. Find out what address they're shipping from, then check the white pages to see if the name and address match up. If this seller is reputable, these are innocuous and painless questions, but if the seller is not... well, you might not get an answer.

Wait a few more days before emailing the seller again. As cation said, you're bound in contract... if the fish is not as described/ pictured, you can contact AquaBid with your claim. It may be a while before everything gets resolved though.

If you win the auction, I'd recommend waiting until warmer months to have him shipped. For that price, I doubt a heating pad is included in the box.

i was just on aquabid and didn't see any questions posted on your fish's listing...have you heard anything from the seller? hope it works out well for you!

edit: post # 200!!!!! whoo-hoo!! in less than 2 months!!

You don't have to worried if you pay by paypal. MAKESURE pay by paypal. LOL!
If the transection is fraud, file to paypal and you got your total money refund. Then put Bad Feedback on her. That is all you can do.:) I have many transections through aquabid and I have some problems with USA sellers. I prefer to get from Thailand breeders now. When I ask questions, they have the answers. All their bettas matched in the picture. It is expensive but I am happy for the bettas I got. :) Not like in USA sellers. Ask more questions, they like ####. Some just send another betta with handicap freebies. Now I know why to culling if not good babies.

Thats not hardly fair. It seems all you want to do is advertise the fish on AB being sold by Thai breeders, by saying " hotdogs, peanuts, get them while they are hot." There are numerous breeders in the US and Canada who are very polite, reliable, and will give you all the background you need. Wasan is one of the worst for not knowing anything on the fish he sells, because he buys more fish to sell than he breeds. It is not just the US breeders. There are "Skunks" in every country, and there are "gullible" people in every country as well. I am a US breeder, and resent the remark that I can't be trusted. I do cull the defects, and sell all the smaller juvies to the lps. I only sell the best I have, and don't ask a arm and a leg for them. I'm sure many breeders on this site will be glad to know you will never buy from them, because they are from the US. by grouping every US breeder together, and making remarks like that...it is predjudice in the first degree.

I'll have to agree with that.

I have bought fish from both US/Canadian background and from Thailand.

Several of the fish I bought on AB from Thailand were slightly ..em...mistrepresented.

I have one..that the picture showed him to be a brilliant yellow..with no other coloration, when I got him his tail is black on the edges. After seeing the fish in person and going back to the picture on AB I see what they did..they enhanced the brightness to where the black washed away and left only the brilliant yellow (could or could not have been done on purpose..but who am I to make that decision. They could have doen it to make the fish show up better...or they could have done to try and decieve, who knows). He also cannot keep himself upright for long periods of time either. He is the one I have tht floats vertical 80% of the time (head straight up at the surface and tail straight down at the bottom of the tank), that wasn't mentioned in the ad either (and I doubt it's SBD, because he has no other indications of the disorder..just seems he can't hold his fins up like the other fish...he's not as strong as he should be, he's kinda a "frail" looking fish imo).

I have another, that was sold as a bi-colored fish. The AB ad only showed the right side of the fish, as is in most cases..you get one good shot of the fish on the auction listing to go by (who would think to need more, you know lol). When I got him..he is actually a marble. The entire left side of his face is clearish/white, and he has several clearish/white patches on that side as well.

I don't hold that against all Thai breeders though, as I still think the fish are beautiful, and so does everyone else. Honestly...I'd probably still buy from those breeders as well...I'd just make sure to ask some more detail questions about their auctioned fish if I decided on one of theirs in the future.

I have bought several fish from BCBetta and they are all as described, with the exception that one turned out to be a butterfly..but he was very young when sent (2 months) and it had just started to show up (which is fine with me..I love butterfly's). When I e-mailed about it she appologized and said that several were startig to show up that way.

I say if you ask any breeder a question and they are dodgey, get angry or short with you, or don't answer you back for long extended periods of time- over 2weeks + (sometimes people do get very busy, you know (and things beyond their control do pop up from time to time too, you know ;)...so always give the seller the benefit of the doubt for a reasonable time frame) then you probably won't be satisfied doing business with them, regardless of country/region of origin.

****
If you spot a fish that you love..and there is only a few minutes left to bid..and no one has bid yet....you can always e-mail the seller with your questions and offer to buy the fish afterwards for what it was listed for, but not bid for. I have gotten several fish that way, usually the seller wants to sell the fish and will answer your questions and then sell you the fish ...IF you ask lol.

True, how did the bid go?
