I am thinking about getting some Boesemani Rainbows and was wondering what the ideal number is to have so they can school comfortably. Does this number apply to all rainbows?

Hi. Ya i think the more the merrier as long as you've got room in the tank. But 4-6 i think would be considered the minimum to be called a school.

i agree 6 would be minimal but they can be expensive, so make 3 a bare minimum and 6 a goal. Keep them at a ratio of 1 male to 2 females. They are easy to sex. Females are paler and longer, while males are more colorful and deeper bodied.

Ah! We're planning on getting some too for our 6ft tank.. 5 or 6 was the plan... :good:

They are beutiful yet expensive fish... I would like to get 6, we will see...
