Schooling fish options...

But if I did 6-8 gudgeons that would probably mean over stocking or no other fish like the peppered cories or snails or the lambchop rasbora...

My advice when anyone asks about stocking is to always attempt to provide the best situation, which includes numbers of the species. The fish will be in better shape, and usually the aquarist will benefit from more interesting interactions. Sometimes I go along with something different, depending upon the circumstances, but pointing out the preferences is giving better advice on the whole.

Ok... What if I did 4 and then some cories?

rasbora espei, Celestial pearl danios, Zebra danios
Those are soft acidic wather fishes : pH 6 to 7 - GH KH below 8 - Temp. 25-26°C.
Can you provide them, and to others too, these parameters ?
These 3 need a jungle including floatings, many hiding places, and dim light to thive. Considering plants you noted above they are very insufficient.
In addition, DanioS are very active swimmers that need minimum a length of 100 cm/40 in. How long is your tank ?

I think you got confused... Those are three OPTIONS not ALL three fish am I having

You do not want barbs, or danios, in with the gudgeons. Nor the CPD.

Rasboras and quiet characins work best. The gudgeon remain in the lower half generally, so rasbora like the Trigonostigma espei or T. hengeli work well as these tend to remain mid and upper level. The phantom tetras will be in the gudgeon's space. Thinking more of spreading out the activity. Though none of these fish are "active" but quiet.

A group of 6-8 gudgeons would really be better, for them and you (the aquarist) as they will interact much more.
Thanks Byron, I should have did a bit of quick research on the gudgeons before offering advice...I've no experience with them

@Rocky998 Are the gudgeons a "must have" in your tank?

Yes the gudgeons are. Definitely the main fish I want

I have to question the 3 inch size for peacock gudgeons. I have never seen them more than about 1 inch long (not including tail).

The length of 7 cm (which is just under 3 inches) is common it seems, several sites use this, including SF. But tank size...one site has 10 US gallon tank OK for a group, then further down the page it says 15 gallons per gudgeon. Obviously needs sorting out.

I strongly recommend kubotai rasbora; a group of 8 or 10 would easily fit. These are a bit different than the ones you mentioned because they really do school and actively swim in a school. Alternatively you could get a group of sparkling gourami. Not sure how well they go with the peacock but ....

Also I would not consider a school of cory in a 20 H....; well maybe pygmy but even panda would find it a bit cramp.

Umm 1st sparkling gourami require larger tanks and then the if pandas are ok than peppered cories are ok because they do not get large at all... As far as those rasbora I dont know about them but I will look into them. Thanks

Both live at the same level... sparking gourami is a little territorial, Tateurndina ocellicauda too... Perhaps possible if you provide a densely planted tank + floatings, plenty of hiding places, roots, where they can shelter in case of squabble.

You are a bit confused son. Sparkling would do fine - these are little 1 inch fishes. Also i said even panda would find it cramp.... but perhaps you didn't read what i wrote.
