Sam's Now To Be High Light And Tech 20g

Thanks, I am so pleased with the wood, couldn't have asked for nicer bits. They will be cropping up many of my future scapes no doubt!!

Someone on Ukaps saw the heart and suggested I call the scape 'the heart of the wood', cleaver, so might just do that. My wife noticed the heart as well, I hadn't seen it!!! :S

Who knows, I certainly don't its just a type of wood.
Sam I hadn't noticed the heart even when I was playing with it in the shop!

Time for an update?

You beat me to it by a few hours, Gareth!!!

Just thought I would add some new pics :)

The tank as it is now. Think I might need to prune things a bit soon, start getting it compact and bushy.

This is what happens when you let L.repens get tall and go red and then you chop the top off and replant it. Quite a nice effect really.

Your tank is amazing, I hope I get pieces of wood like yours one day.

About Echinodorus tenellus, well I have it.

It's under 1.5WPG T5HO (30g tank), I started with two plants, of course it took quite a while to settle in.

It's been in the tank since Mid-Jan and I already have 4 more plantlets and I don't even dose ferts or co2.

Hopefully when I introduce dry ferts I will rapidly gain a carpet.

Thanks people :)

Its getting there. Really should change the title, as it couldn't be further from low-tech!

The tank looks great. I had not noticed the heart... Now I want that wood even more! Are you sure you don't want to send it to me and let me show you what it would look like in a bigger tank? :hyper:
It wouldn't look as good in mine I'm sure. I can't scape like you can. I still have so much to learn. I am working on it though. I am better than I was... :D

Haha sorry Amanda, but I'll soon be getting a 4ft tank and it'll be the centre piece, we'll all be able to see how it looks in a big tank then ;) :p

I'll probably get some update photos up today, its filling out nicely.

Quick update, plants doing well, except for the java fern surprisingly. I've had to take the Pogostemon stellata out it was growing and even responded to a prune by sending out side shoots, but it was a bit big for the tank and I wanted to let the C.balansae show a bit more. The Limnophila aromatica is going well and have done a prune and replant, which it has responded well to. I've given everything a good prune so it bushes out ready. Gonna borrow a mates DSLR for decent pics ;) anyway photos.

personal oppinion... with a little more balansae... this tank would be perfection! I love how grassy it is!
I am officially in love!
I don't just want the wood. Now I want the whole tank... fish and all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so jealous. Come do my tank!! :hyper:

You are far to kind Amanda   inspired by you I thought I'd add some update photos :)

I'm not sure I like the L.repens or the Limnophila aromatica. The L.repens doesn't seem to want to busy out at all, thinking I didn't plan t it compactly enough i.e. needed to plant more stems. The Limnophila aromatica is getting a horrible GSA covering on the lower leaves. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it, will keep going with it and perhaps try something else in a month or two. The sags are also the wrong choice, think ET would have been better as its finer, the sags are to big for this size tank.

We live and learn :)

Photo time.

EDIT - the C. balasae is going really well but it just bends over because of the filter flow!!
