after seeing a recent spat on the "Sales section". how about making threads in that section, close automatically. making a pm the only way to communicate? it would stop people messing up the thread because they don't agree with the price, many of whom admit to not being interested in the item anyway.

Not really necessary imo...

If a price is so extortionate someone is going to point it out, and i think thats a good thing as some poor person is going to get ripped off.

yes i agree with 5teady,if you are new to the hobby you could get ripped off,its good to have peoples views :good:

Surely if it's too expensive then just don't buy it? There's no need to cause an argument and waste somebody's time. People can think for themselves they don't need to have it pointed out to them.

Actually some people do, you only have to look at some of the threads/posts to see that

Whats to say they wont get ripped off in real life, they cant always be monitored like babies. Need to think for theirselves.

If thats the case, close the forum

what's the logic behind that then?

It causes more problems than it resolves.

Something is only worth what the buyer is prepared to pay for it, i have paid way over the odds for fish in the past but have been happy to do so in order to obtain a difficult to find or exceptional specimin. If something is too expensive then people won't buy it so the seller will have to keep it or lower the price.

though thats what the forum is all about helping people,so yippy to free speach as long as you are not nasty with it :good: :good: :good: :good:

Yeah helping people if they ask for advice on fishkeeping, people don't need to be told how to buy things. Anyone with half a brain would look at how much a filter (for example) is brand new before buying a second hand one and seeing how the price compares. As said already things are only worth what you are prepared to pay for them.

I think what has to realised here is that there are alot of people out there that are very much naieve when it comes to what things cost. I am sure many of you have watched the programs on TV where people have been ripped off by "rouge traders" and door to door sales people and shouted at the screen " ARE YOU BLOOMIN STUPID... CANT YOU SEE WHATS HAPPENING". Well, just because thats on the screen, doesnt stop it from happening in real life.

Therefore, i am behind anyone pointing out when someone is blatently bringing to attention to other members of the forum when someone is obviously grossly overcharging someone for an item. If not only to stop the forum itself getting a bad name for allowing people to rip off others in the buy and sell section or any other section for that matter. Its all about upholding the integratory of the board and the owner at the end of the day.

Just my piece of the pie :)
