Rob's 3X2X2

oops sorry forgot about them!!

well saturday morning i checked and the eggs were all gone, so i guess they hatched.
not seen any fry or anything but there are soooo many hidey holes that some may have survived getting chewed.

my BLV 400w 14,000K bulb arrived this morning so i fitted it before i came to work, so it'll be interesting to see what the tank looks like later.

also noticed that my acro is now almost completely white, so i guess the amorous attentions of the yellow bean gobies has finally killed it.

As for the gobies they've spawned again!!!
this is getting silly now. thats three times in a month or so!

Looking amazing, if you dont mind I may borrow your fragging ledge idea in the future, being able to adjust it for light & flow is great

go for it, just a quick tip, because of the lack of surface on the egg crate it can be a bit tricky to get it to stick to the magnet, this is why i used solvent weld as it sticks very quickly!

hi rob

dose the yellow rock gobys kill of the acapora when they spawn or just damage the tissue on the coral how are they coming along anway

regards scott

Part of their breeding strategy is to clear an area within an SPS coral, usually acropora, by pecking at its polyps. they will then lay their eggs within this area. Its only a small area, so on an established large sps coral it won't really matter and the coral will recover in time.
However the coral mine did it to wasn't long established and porbably wasn't really large enough so when they 'attacked' it it did more damage than it could cope with. Even so if they had done it just once then i think it would have recovered. but the little blighters have now spawned 3 times in the last month or so, so sadly the acro never had time to recover between spawnings. I'm hoping that the coral will just stay as a white skeleton and that the gobies will continue to use it, though i've a horrible feeling that they're gonna turn their attention to my hysterix next!!!!

We lost power around where i live for around 5 hours yesterday
bit worried but everything seems to be fine. Thankfully no wet floor when i got in. If anything it was good as it meant the temp stayed below 29 (first time this week!)]

one of the hermits got a bit of a shock though. It climbed inside the vortech housing whilst the power was off. certainly woke him up when the power came back on. The force/rattling shook the vortech off of its magnetic hold. The pump seems fine. not sure about the hermit!

oh dear Rob! Could have been worse, a fish could have been taking a nap, I think the bean gobies are small enough to get in too!

i though my tank was getting bad at hanging around the 27.7c mark!

I have had the same issue with the heat, my heaters have been switched off and the tank has still not dropped below 30, if you ever had to have a powercut i suppose now is not such a bad time.
