i am going to do a water change on my tank today with ro water, what percentage shall i change and does the water alresy have salt in it?

it will only have salt in if you brought salted ro so to tell youll have to find out what you brought or test it

Depends on why you are doing water change, if it is the start of weekly changes then I would recommend 25%, if its because of a problem or end of cycling then I would say 50%.

If you have purchased just RO water then you will need to add salt, follow the instruction on the box and get it to the same SG as your tank.

Add RO to bucket, heat to desired temp. turn powerhead on to aid mixing, add salt, leave it for at least 24 hours to allow salt to dissolve, test SG, you may need to add more salt or more RO water depending on results. Once everything is ok then do water change :good:

Hope this helps

ammonia levels thats why im doing the change so i will do a 50% and as you said. whats the best salt to use? and what else do i need to add?

As you have corals choose a reef salt rather than sea salt. You will be restricted by which salt your lfs stocks.
Don't add anything else.

Quick question, what salt have you used so far and what sg do you keep it at??

If you can, I'd get a 25kg tub might be bit of a large outlay all at once but much more economical in the long run.

There's a bargain (well I think it is!!!!) on fleabay at the moment for 25kg of Tropic marin salt.
I use instant ocean at the moment but am thinking of changing to Tropic marin.

No need to add anything else at this stage the salt will have everything you need in it :good:

I use Tropic marin Reef salt. Its the same as my lfs uses and calcium levels are very good with it. Dissolves very well aswell.
Only thing bothering me was the pH, I don't believe this was due to the salt, I believe it was due to the nasty cheap phosphate remover I was using as it does warn on the tub it can lower pH.
