Whenever the water flow drops, check the filter. Wash old media in old tank water and clean the impeller well as that can get full of goo as well. Make sure you don't lose the little rubber grommets on each end of the impeller shaft.

The tank hasn't been running long, but once it has been running 6 weeks, you should clean the filter media at least once a month, preferably every 2 weeks.

Thanks I set up start of July & got through the cycle mid August. So every 2 weeks I'll wash the filter in dirty water. The flow is way better and the fish seem happier. The fry are out exploring more. Both sets of fry!
