RIP Israel...

I don't think it's a good idea to buy used heater
Craiglist seller often sells you bad used stuff too; expired food, noisy filter and stuff...

Sorry for your loss :( :rip:

Managed to catch a heater overheating once before it killed any fish, in my dad's 57 gallon community tank. Put my hand in to feed them and the water felt way too hot, the temp had got to 89 degrees F. Lucky to have caught it then and could fix it. Heater malfunctions are the worst.

I like the interpet heaters, and have heard good things about eheim. Not worth being cheap when it comes to heaters, too many things can go wrong.

I have an Interpet heater in my 29g tank, and it’s awesome, works really well.

I guess you get what you pay for - I bought the one that cooked him, for $5 - should have known.. :(

When you see your fish floating. Mine was over 100 degrees.
He was upside down on the bottom. I first thought we was just resting, but then I saw he was upside down. I went to gently tap the tank, but it was so hot. The outside was extremely hot.

28c is cold for me though and I thought it's too cold for fish.
Most tropical aquarium fish are fine in water with a temperature between 20-30C.

Discus like warm water but I prefer to keep them at 26-28C and if they get sick, raise it to 30-32C.
