Restarting 15 Gallon Aquarium

We have Petco around here and they just care BN and common plecos and same with my other LFS, but I'll ask for an order, thanks!

Sorry I haven't updated this in a while, I've had final exams. Anyways my tank is still stable but I've changed some plans. My current stocking is 3 platies and a guppy, and my previous plans were to get a bulldog pleco, 2 more platies, and a honey gourami. I bought the bulldog pleco and put it in my 40g temporarily because it had a diatom problem and isn't yet mature enough for otos. After seeing just how much it poops I decided to get A couple Nerite snails and some red cherry shrimp instead and give the pleco to a friend. I also ordered 3 marimo balls because I heard the shrimp like them. I'll update again when this all happens!

Actually, would a male betta work instead of the gourami? I know he probably wouldn't get along with my guppy, but if I regimes the guppy would he be ok with the platies, snails, and shrimp?
Rehome not regimes autocorrect got me.

He -might- be okay, but it's really going to depend on his personality. You may have to baffle the filter so it doesn't blow him around, and you'll want the tank to be at least 78F. Have a read of THIS for betta care.
I personally would just do the gourami. I prefer bettas to be by themselves or with snails or cories. Sorry if that seems negative! Is there a reason you're leaning towards a betta now?

I just think they're prettier but I'll play it safe with the gourami! Thanks for the help!

I picked up the honey gourami and 2 nerite snails today. I already love the gourami and he/she (I don't know how to sex them, help?) is kind of shy but doing well. The snails are doing snailish things. :)

That's a nice gourami!! Lookin good. I'm afraid i cant help with sexing.. Sorry

The dorsal fin on males is pointed & rounded on females. Dunno if yours is old enough to tell that way yet..am pretty inexperienced with gourami. Only had one golden gourami a while back.

Thank you! I think it might be a female then, but it's not full grown yet so I'm not sure.

Just to update, my fish are still doing well. :) This may sound a little like a sales pitch, but I'm really advocating nerite snails. Mine have done a great job of almost completely clearing my tank of diatoms already, not to mention they're fun to watch. So I was wondering if they could take care of some hair algae in my 40g?  Also, I like the way my planted 40g is turning out and it's planting (little pun there0 some thoughts in my head. I'm considering converting my 15g to be planted with a sand bottom as well, but that's a long term project!

They are really lovely. I don't think they do hair algae though :(

Rats, removing it by hand is a pain! I would have just bought a horde of nerites! ;)
