The poor little guys have ich. I won't have time to pick up any medicine because I get home from track at 7 and then have to do homework so I'm raising the temperature right now. I guess I'll just have to pray for them.
Oh no I'm not sure if just raising the heat can kill it. Think it has to be pretty high for that. Usually you use salt and heat together.
I'm not sure what the salt measurements are unfortunately.
I've only had ich once and used QuICK Cure from wal-mart to treat it. If you end up using medication make sure to remove carbon from your filter and bring the heat back down.
Doing the medicine, heat & salt, are too much, is why I say that.
Track ended early so I had time to pick up some medicine! Unfortunately, the only ich medicine available at my LFS is Ich-Rid+, which will probably stain my tank, but it's more than worth it. I'll be starting treatment as soon as the water temperature falls back to normal.
I just moved the 15g to my dad's to make room for a new 40g in my room. The guppies are recovering from the ich, but I'm worried they might die from the stress of getting moved! I'll keep you all updated.
I had to get the 40g today so I didn't have much choice about when to move them, but thankfully they are adjusting well. They seemed very stressed at first, but have recovered and are doing well! My dad's kitten has been eyeing them down though, so I may have to Phoebe-proof the tank!
I'm impressed with my guppies' resilience! They survived the move and all the white spots from the ich are gone but I'm not done treating it yet. All is well, so I'll probably add some platies to it this weekend.
I would hold off on any new fish for a few weeks. Even after you finish the medication, your fish are still going to be more vulnerable to other diseases. Let them get a little bit better by giving them at least two or three weeks before introducing any new fish.
Here they are I finally figured out how to crop photos! Sorry for the poor quality but they were the only ones I had. And thanks, I'll wait on the platies!
Has anybody ever owned aggressive guppies? One of mine is rather aggressive and bit a big gash in another one's tail. I've never had guppies act this way before so is this just an abnormality? Also, I'll be picking up the platies this weekend.
