Twinkie was one of my favorite girls. She was so beautiful and friendly. I got her through the mail about a year and 1/2 ago. She got bloat on and off and I would just separate her from the tank and deal with it until she was better and put her back in the sorority. Lately she started getting bloat more often. This last time, she wouldn't recover. She wouldn't eat. She barely breathed. She got pop-eye and she didn't even struggle when I picked her up. The meds weren't working. I didn't want her to die in pain. So I euthanized her. Quick and painless--for her anyway. I'm going to have nightmares tonight.

She was a good girl. Such a piglet. Rest In Peace, :byebye:

You sure are a good friend for doing that. No point in making her suffer any further. It's wonderful she could bring some joy into your life for the time you had her. Everything has to come to an end..... :/ I hate it and it's not fair. :( So sorry for your loss.

Poor little girl, you did all you could to make her life comfortable, some bettas seem prone to blaoting, maybe similar to having IBS :dunno:

You loved your girl and knew when it was time to let her go painlessly

RIP Twinkie :-(

THanks guys for all your support! Her poor tank mates are depressed. They started beating up on each other a week ago...I need to get a new female to replace her. I just don't want to, she was so special! :/

Awwww that's sad. I've not lost any of my girls so far and hope not to for a very long time!
When I took Teelie out for spawning she was missed. She was boss of the group so it shook things up a bit. :X Happily my other CT girl took over and the pair are now good friends and rule the gang together. :good:
It's always hard to have to euthanise. I've only done it twice and I'd happily never do so again in my entire life. :(
RIP lil girl.
Hugs,
P.
