hi all

i was just wonderin if anyone has any ideas of y my red-tailed black shark is loosing his blackness and i going lighter coloured

first it was his body now its going onto his fins

anyone have any ideas?

thanx alot

Maybe the water quality is not right for him or he is getting older. How long is he and how are you looking after him?

Could possibly be to do with diet. Do you feed him any veg at all? They can be partial to a bit of veg!

Does he have a good hiding place?

A healthy specimen is said to have a very dark body and a bright red tail.

hi

he does get some veg that i feed to the plec

he has lots of cves to hide in

and his tail is a very bright red its just the body

he seems healthy and active

Did u change your gravel recently? I hae one of these guys to he lost his color a bit for about a week now its back :dunno: I got new lighting though so..

hi all

just thought i waould let u no that my RTBS is back to normal it was wen i fed him some glass worms his colour came back

anyway just thought i would let u no

I know its not a RTBS but when my Black Sharks went pale it was because of stress in the tank by another fish, do you anything in there that could be makeing it stressed?

My RTBS's tail turns white when i turn the lights off at night. BOy did i get a surprise when i turned the lights on at 11 PM. My Raohael was Entirely White except for his plates over his head. I shut them off real quick but i glimpsed my RTBS's white tail.

It has to do with stress. When i had to sell my RTBS because of aggression, he was jet black, i got him in a plastic bag and he went gray! I thought oh sh*t!! And put him back in the tank, and whithin the hour he was back to normal. ;) (Releef)

Maybe a recent change in tank design, or a water change spooked him. Give him time and he will recover!

Goodluck!
