Hi,

I was sold 2 red tailed sharks about 2 months ago by a LFS in my town and was told the two would get on great.

There has been WWIII in my tank with the two of them, one has lost his colour and hides in a tube throughout the day and comes out at night. I think it's time to say that they aren't going to get on, and after a bit of reading they are pretty territorial fish.

The one that's being picked on is going to need a new home, if you can collect from Maidstone in Kent, (ME17) then you are welcome to take the fish off me, as soon as possible, as I don't want his condition to deteriorate any further. I will not post the fish, as I do not agree with the ethics behind it so don't ask.

what size is your tank? Are you sure it is compatible for even one of the sharks?

They don't need a huge tank for an individual as they aren't like the black shark that gets big but they definitely don't get along with each other. I have seen them sold in pairs by LFS's on a few occasions and you just know that they are going to fight unless the tank is 4ft or more.

The one that isn't being bullied is fine, swimming around. The tank is a 160L, but as capester said, they aren't like bala sharks - they don't get overly large.
