Red Tail Barracuda

I was looking at a fishy website and saw Red Tail Barracudas. The site was charging $50 for them. I am wondering if anyone has these. What size tank will I need? I am getting a 55 gallon tank soon would this be good? Also I would be buying him at around 4 inches. How big do they get? What other tank mates would be good for them? Thanks for any help!

They should grow to around 10-12 inches and like all pike like Characins need a lot of space to swim in or they will damage their snouts ramming the glass. A 55 would be ok for juviniles but once they reach around 6 inches you are going to need to move them to a 150 gallon tank or bigger.

Tankmates should be reasonably large but non aggressive (so no nasty cichlids) but not large enough to eat the baracuda.

I have had my baracuda for about a week with my dempsey and redtail cat........................ no war yet. i currently feed my baracuda krill......what else is good to feed them?
