totally stunning fish when mature but quite dull when young. my one has only just started to colour up. i ordered mine in from chilton aquatics in durham. id love another one but id rather buy a mature one now.

i've read they prefer to be kept in groups, and will show better colouring that way.

also note that there are two species of 'orange head' that are easily confused
geo. sp. tapajos and geo. sp. aragauia

i've got two but looking for more due to conspecific agression

Read head tapajos are an undescribed species of Geophagus, obviously from Rio Tapajos, which is very close to Rio Xingu, and not too far away from Rio Aragauia. SP Tapajos red head, and SP Aragauia are mixed up due to them being very similar and being collected from a small area,
Best bet in getting anything unusual cichlid wise is the importers, Don Conkel, or Jeff Rapps (tangledupincichlids) :good:
Oddball express import from both, and if you email them they will let you know when they're importing next and you can add your fish to the list :good:

I've got a couple of adults I'm looking to sell
First generation from wild caught parents.

I've also got spawning pairs, which will leave me fighting for space to grow them in if they get it right this time!

sorry - just to be clear... I'm not looking to sell the spawning pairs ;-)
I was trying to indicate that there should be young available soon :)

The 2 adults that I am looking to sell both appeare to be male.

I had 6 F1's that I beleive turned out to be 5 males and one female... before I realised they hit maturity and the female ended up getting hounded - I moved her to a different tank but died a week or so later ;-(

I've since added a wild caught female to the group and another F1 female - they have paired off with 2 of my existing males.

They are very teritirial when they spawn so space is an issue (Never thought I'd say that in an 850L tank!) so could do with thinning out the numbers.

came home to a good sight in the main tank...

its their 3rd spawn - they have decided to try a different spawning site this time...
Hopefully we'll get some fry this time ;)

Well done !!! Hope all works out , looking forward to mid october !!!

They have got a few mature Red Head Tapajo's at the MA Ashton under Lyne branch. Not officially for sale though. Very nice looking fish indeed.

I'm sadly selling my Geophagus Altifrons   6, from 3-4.5" 2 males 4 females from the looks of things. These are WILD CAUGHT, TRUE altifrons... not cheap! payed over £100 for the group of 6  If you have interest in them let me know as i could do with shifting them sooner rather then later
