Ranger's Tank Journal

If its a screw thread thats leaking the go to a hardware store and ask for some PTFE tape. wind this round the male thread then screw back in.

It's reef safe!

Sorry yeah I mean the bubble trap needs to have the top edge slightly above the water, this should stop the bubbles. You may have to have a fiddle with it to find how far out of the water it needs to be but mine stopped throwing bubbles into the water at around 1cm above the surface. :)

My cam is acting strange, so I just DLed a pic from coralife of my unit.

RO.jpg

Pic is kindof small, but where it is circled is where the plastic cover screws into the main RO unit. Haven't had a change to try Mathews suggestion because it is Finals this week for me in College. So I don't have alot of time atm.

Done, still leaks a little bit, but not nearly as much as before. Currently running it now, seems to be pumping out water faster that it should be. Its a 24GPD, and its been on for a little over 40 min. and its already close to a gallon full.

For some reason I always though that Ranger was old. Like 50 years old, then i see people telling him to ask his dad. . lol, you learn stuff about people on here everyday like how SkiFletch likes computers. :shifty:

He's in training to be a police officer, that usually means early to mid 20s ;)

Ooo That explains the K-9! Fish and Computers don't mix. I read one of your posts on another forum and I got sooo lost! You guys talk about the nerdy part of computers. Let's see some MYSPACE! :fun: lol Jay Kay.

Yup, 2.5 more years till im eligible! Hurray...! :hyper: Anyways, Pumped out some RO water even tho it seemed to come out quicker than it should have. Still got plenty of bubbles, lol. Maybe something is wrong with the filter material I'm using (the mag 3), because it seems like the microbubbles are slipping right through it... Although they aren't nearly as bad as they were with the stock bubble trap.

18?Same diffrence some 18 year olds act like 50 year olds and some 50 year olds act hmm nevermind.  . Anyways, does it really take that long for it to pump out? My water store has this machine that can pump out alot and fills my 5gallon tub in a minute. 3000gpd is what they have at the store. I wish I had one of them in my house but there HUGE.

Yeah mine is 24GPD. And according to basic math skills, 24 hours in one day, 24 GPD, 24Hours/24GPD=1GPH

Wow that must be sucky to wait for a gallon for an hour. . If my mom ever decides to make the frggin hole inside the sink to put the little faucet thing in then I can finally have my R/O unit. I'm going to try to convince her to get atleast a 90GPD one.

Not that bad, I just set my watch alarm and go do something. :good:

Of course you do

Getting back on topic... heres where we are:

Excess micro-bubbles escaping skimmer/bubbletrap.
-Not likely the cause of water. Ruled out by a test in RO water only.
-Have tried tweaking water intake and air intake separately and combined. Also tweaked with water outlet valve.

Seems like bubbles are just freely leaving the bubbletrap.
-Possibly problem with the Mag 3 foam prefilter?

EDIT: Also, if I constrict water flow directly from the pump (without using the valve) it lowers the amount of bubbles. Would putting another foam thing over the pump intake slow water flow?
