It’s kind of phasing out and being replaced by games like Fortnight and Halo.
Yes it is phasing out
But... it is still fun to play
Sorry if this comes off as rude, but Minecraft isn't being phased out at all. Neither are any of the classic games that made up your childhood. In fact, a lot of them are making resurgences since this generation is obsessed with getting a nostalgia high and as a result of reboots, these games are more relevant than ever.
Some of the biggest gaming YouTubers ever returned to making Let's Play videos of Minecraft to profit from the sudden re-emergence of these old games.
Fortnite isn't even a bad game, if that's what you were getting at. It's free, and accessible by a younger audience and that's why it's popular, not because bad things get popular.
And Halo was a thing before either of us were alive. It's a classic game from 2001 that's making a resurgence due to ports being released on different consoles and new game releases.
And... As much as I like Minecraft, it wasn't even that good in its early 2010 heydays. The features were limited and we only look back on it fondly because it was a large part of our childhood. There's no reason as to why its early versions should be held so dearly except for the fact that it brings us nostalgia. Not to mention that its new releases (which a lot of redditors seem to despise) are one of the biggest things keeping it alive.
No matter how many new games come out, angry gamer dude-bros won't let Minecraft die. They'd die for that game, so rest assured that it won't be going anywhere any time soon.
