Power Cut

Hi Guys,

Last night we had a power cut it only lasted 2 hours but it made me think. how long would my tank last with no pump/filter/heater? What would be the first to go?

first of all, your tank seems overstoked, although i am not familiar with measurements of tanks in feet... Because of this, if the filter dies, the fish will dirty thier tank quicker than a normal tank, and the waste will produce more toxins. i talkede to a person at my LFS, and they said the fish should be in the bag no more than 4 hours... the bag is most likely much more overstocked than your tank, and there is no heater... In a tropical tank, it doesn't really matter if you have a heater if you have a small/medium tank, and it is a warm room... It's better to have one, but i don't think it would kill fish not to have one during a short power outage... hope this helps...
