Ryan: two happy chappies lol!

Alasse: lovely pics. Are you using software editing to blur the background or is it just with camera settings?

Daize - I only do basic editing to most photos, resize, sharpen, sometimes adjust exposure if i feel it needs it. If it needs too much work i'd rather go take more and discard them. Sooo after all that, it is the mode i take the photos in, or setting, which ever you like to call it

I totally agree with Alasse. You could definitely use software to blur a background but it would be way easier to do in camera with the right settings. Daize what kind of camera are you using?

A compact Panasonic - I'm not exactly an expert with cameras

although I do try to use the manual settings, but either I'm no good or my camera isn't - or most likely both!

Haha. It will be a little more difficult with a point and shoot but you should be able to do it. Does your camera have an aperture priority mode? Canon uses Av for an abbreviation....sorry not sure what Panasonic uses. If you do have an aperture priority mode try using a large aperture by setting the f-stop to 2.8, 4.5, 5.6, etc. (FYI - the smaller the f-stop the larger the aperture). Using a large aperture (i.e small f-stop) will give a shallow depth of field and therefore a nice blurry background. Hope this helps! :)

Thanks Rak. I had a play with my camera settings, then went trigger happy with the shutter button for 10 minutes
