I think it was becasue some one was spamming individual users m8 so they done it this way to try combat it

Its not ideal like is it, cause if u have a few pm's u cant reply to them all lol

I think it's about 10 mins before each message.... and no not exactly ideal i had 3 PM's to send last night and had to wait 30 mins between of 3..... gets a little annoying after a while lol.

We have recently been attacked by porno spammers who join the forum only to send PMs (with obscene pictures) to our members. It seems that they get paid by the number of messages they can send out. Other forums have been having the same problems.
The three minute delay between messages is a way we can slow them down. It will not only make their activities less profitable, but will give us a chance for a member online to receive one and report it to us. Naturally, as soon as we are aware of what is happening, we ban them from the site.
We are sorry that it is necessary for us to take these measures, but we simply cannot let these spammers continue to freely distribute their garbage to our members.

It's not 3 mins hun... i send messages and then it says i have to wait another 9 mins, so i think it's set to 10 mins per PM?

You are probably right then. Believe me, we see this as a very serious problem or we would not be making our members go through this inconvenience.
I totally understand hun, just such a pain in the rear end sometimes lol
. Is this a permanant thing is just temp?I think it's just a matter of wait and see. We don't mind if our members can send as many PS as they want, but it's just a matter of slowing down the spammers. Like I said, we are not the only forum that has this problem, and the software company tells us they are working on making a fix for it. If they come through with something that will solve the problem, we will probably go back to the old settings.

It is 3 minutes. When you send a message and try to send another, a screen should come up and tell you when you can send another. I just checked on my wife's ID. Sent one at 12:12 and they clicked to send another. It showed that I couldn't send another until 12:15 Not certain why yours is taking so long.

mine was longer than 3 aswell, i think its stupid, we are the ones who are suffering, why not go back to usual? i doubt the porn attack effevted people that much, even though there are children on the site we have seen it all before, including most of them, its not right that the members have to suffer for something some idiot has done.. why let it get to us i say
We can certainly look in to gong back to the way it was. It does leave the door open for spammers to hit us though and we really want to avoid that.
Can someone that is having problems with it taking longer than 3 minutes please send a PM and note the time on the bottom right hand side of the screen before sending. Then click to send another and tell me the time it says you can send again? They shoud be 3 minutes apart (4 maybe if the time changed while you were sending the first one).
