pleco for a 20 g

Are you specificaly after a pleco or just any algae-eating bottom dweller?

Excellent algae eaters are otos (minnimum of 3), SIAMESE algae eaters and flying foxes.

A good, small algae-eating pleco is the bristlenose plec. This is by far the best choice for a small tank - it is neither fragile nor large and will eat your algae effectively. It grows to 5 inches.

^^ good advice

'Chocolate' plecs as some call them - are actually albino common plecs - and will get WAY too big for a 20gal :(

A bristlenose is a great idea

the problem is that my lfs has no oto cats or bristlenose plecs.i also heard that flying foxes will become aggresive with age.. right now all my potions for an algae eat are these
1)golden algae eater(i know these are actually chinese algae eaters)
2)common plecs
3)longfinned plecs
4)chinese algae eaters
thats pretty much it :(

Flying foxes will only become aggressive to their own species but not majorly so. It is the Chinese algae eaters that are a major problem as adults and grow much too large at 10 inches.

agreed.

however the 'chocolate' plec HotStuffGal has in her sig is not a rhino (or actual chocolate plec). It's what i've seen in LFS's as a chocolate - its an albino common.
