The tank has been used in the past, and is coming from a friend so it will already be cycled anyway but i will make sure water quality is fine and it has a quick partial water change and leave it a bit before putting anything in it.
Sounding good.
However, can I ask when it last had fish in it and how long the filter has been unused for? If your friend is just emptying it then you'd be better off putting fish straight in (and remember the dechlorinator), otherwise your valuable filter bacteria will die of starvation. Common misconception that a mature filter is best left for a week or two before adding fish.
He just got a new tank so took his fish out of it. By just i mean within the last day and i have the tank today. He had tetras in it and some guppies. Cheers for info
