Please Help I Some Advice.

This is like watching a really bad film that is so bad, you can't help but watch it! Seriously, true or not, this is just darn wrong!

I agree, but if what they said is true, they were going on advice of the LFS. We all know how that can end. Instead of going on about how horrible it is, why not try and solve the problem? Criticizing is only going to make them mad and the fish will stay where they are and die.

I guess you're right... It's just hard to know whether it's a truth or a lie. What they said might not be true... but like you say, we don't know.

Yeah, I'm not sure either, but I've seen 5 gallon tanks crammed with cichlids, so I guess anything is possible!

OKay, you have enough room for a betta, a shrimp tank, OR 3-4 endlers. That is it. Anything else, get it out of that tan PLEASE and give it to someone who can house it properly. What you are doing is cruelty.

Whatever you do you need at the very least a filter. And the plec, and angel at the very very least need to be rehomed. Also, a lid would be a good idea but the necessity for it largely depends on what you will actually keep in there after getting a filter, cycling it and researching the best inhabitants for the tank. If you want something to clean algae in a tank that size you'd be looking at shrimp out snails. Fish wise really you can't fit much.

Can I just ask where you got your fish from?

unfortunatly we have advised and the op has not really taken it on board :(

i am a little worried about the safety of the weight of the tank on top of that gas fire, surely thats not safe

Well, they did say they would take the fish back tomorrow. Not sure about the filter...
Yeah, that could potentially be a problem...

This has to be a wind up, I just can't work out why you would bother? A billion unsuitable fish in a teeny tiny tank with two candles on top of a gas fire?! That is deliciously stupid and no one that dumb can upload photos and post coherently, I doubt they would even be able to dress themselves. Don't feed the troll people. And troll, you need a hobby. I suggest fishkeeping!

If however by some unlikely chance his does happen to be real, the fish will all die so take them back. Your grandad and fish shop have lied to you. You need a heater, filter and a much bigger tank. Oh and a stand for it! Maybe do a little research first, you obviously have a computer so use it. And my grandad swears that you aren't supposed to refrigerate cheese. Not all old people are right.

This is completely off topic, but I absolutely love the two tanks in your sig.

Fish are now getting donated (TODAY), I have a nice tank with filter, light "Fluval" unsure of the exact model but it is 3ft 120L will be here by tonight. I have also got a liquid test kit along with some co2. Planning on putting some cheery shrimp in it and some cardinal tetras along with some plants. I have read through the forum and i think these fish will be colourful and fine for the setup described.

The tank has been used in the past, and is coming from a friend so it will already be cycled anyway but i will make sure water quality is fine and it has a quick partial water change and leave it a bit before putting anything in it.

Sounds a lot more like it to me pal.....there are some good guys on here with good advice helped me out a lot....stick to their advice not the local fish shop and you will be fine

Sounding good.

However, can I ask when it last had fish in it and how long the filter has been unused for? If your friend is just emptying it then you'd be better off putting fish straight in (and remember the dechlorinator), otherwise your valuable filter bacteria will die of starvation. Common misconception that a mature filter is best left for a week or two before adding fish.
