Between my “fat fingering”, and my stupid AI inserting words that absolutely don’t fit, don’t start with the same letter, aren’t spelled similarly, it makes posting to the forum, from my phone very difficult… I don’t mind when it gives me a few choices, based on letters I’ve typed, but lately ( I’ve not turned anything new on ), I’m find words and partial sentences inserted into my thread… wondering if that’s part of the forum upgrade, or something that got upgraded on my phone… either way, I have reread some posts, and there is so much jibberish, I don’t even remember what I was trying to say???

Thoughts???

predictive text? I don't see it being a forum-based issue probably the phone. The only suggestion I can think of is to turn it off and skim-read your posts yourself to see if they make sense after you've typed them out. I use a PC and have Grammarly installed. It's great, but the only issue is mine uses US spelling so it is a bit frustrating for words such as "colour" & "color". The other option you have is to just ditch the phone and find something that works for you, but that will most likely come with a financial cost

I just found out I have US, Indian, Australian, Canadian and British English options 🤦‍♂️

Time to put that flip phone to rest, just shoot it?

I have been trying to dictate my posts with my iPhone. It is never perfect but the transcription is much worse when trying to interface with the forum’s software.

This is a 1 year old I phone, I use my laptop, when at work, been off a while, and on my phone, so I’m really just realizing how messed up it is…

I have found through years of investigation of machinery failures that the problem 99.452% of the time, it is operator error from lack of knowledge of the machine?

There where never such problem with flip-phones. You could never make your errors pass on their back.

Today it's easy to blame the phone for everything. It may be related with old age and new tech compatibility problems.

But what jibberish are you talking about.

I don’t even remember what I was trying to say???

Whatever you where talking about, I understood something... I hope my response made sense.

No wonder I don't have smart phone yet, lol, just a no longer working flip phone. I get the spell checker/grammer thing on posts here, email & everywhere! I just ignore it most times, but it can be a PITA. I usually proofread, but not always; it can make sound like moron (& I apologize for that). It especially hates latin words like fish names...(sigh)

well... I did some looking, turns out predictive texting was turned on ( I didn't do it ) ... hmmm no strange words... I am still smarter than AI

Even my basic non-smart phone has predictive text and one of the first things I did when I bought the phone was to turn it off.

A bit off topic, another thing worth doing is to turn off the mirror image option so that "proper" photos are taken when using the camera.

I type poorly when texting, so I limit my forum visits to when I'm on a laptop. Predictive text stays off, as does autocorrect. I can see some members using AI to write, as their style has recently changed overnight. As an editor, I notice these things, and we're getting flowing prose and complex sentence structures from people who wrote simply and directly before. It's interesting - the tech can polish presentation. Pretty soon, we can all sound the same as far as our writing voices go.

My fingers, thumbs and vision make using my phone here uninteresting, so I adjust. If I write gibberish, it's because I think it too!
