Hi,

We have a 60L 2x1 foot.

I came home tonight to find one of my platys about two feet infront and to side of tank on thefloor (after much searching in the tank!!)

There are only two small open parts (about an inch squared) at top corners on the back.

How could that platy possibly have jumped out of the water and ended up on front of the tank and virtually under my bed?

Weird! And sad.

It seems absolutely impossible

Fish can and will jump, what seems impossible is always possible, I've had numerous fish jump through wire gaps, so I tape over them.

My fish jump alot, smacking the tank lid and waking me up all through the night sometimes :shout:

Screen tops and glass tops are very useful!

I lost a christmas flasher wrasse in my marine tank 3 weeks after getting it. It jumped through a 0.5"x3" hole in near the overflow....where there is a will there is a way.

As for how the platy got where it was: It jumped out, then flopped around for a bit. Ive found fish amazing distances away from tanks, 5-10 feet.

Iv had 2 Odessa barbs jump out of my tank through the smallest of holes in my tank lid. So i taped it up :) It's amazing how far they can jump

Ive watched my swordtails and platys jump and hit the glass top of the tank. It's not impossible, and as long as the tank is covered, it is quite entertaining at times lol

Entertaining is 1 way of putting it lol i can just imagine my piranhas doing that on my bigger tank. They have some power for their size. They would have a good go at taking the lid off lol
