Planned Fry Journal Just For Fun :)

They do look pretty striking with their hi fins.... good luck asking about them.

Edit.... don't forget to let them know you're a regular customer... got to keep the ones that spend money happy !

I should just go in then, they know me lol. I am pretty sure they would be able to get some if the breeder is still around. Like I say it's been almost 2 years since I seen them.

Look what else I found a pic of-my swordtails!

Oh good memories of such beautiful fish but stupid schoolgirl errors and new tank syndrome on my part
sad.png
we all learn from our mistakes though.

Looking at the other pics from when these were uploaded, it was when I had the massive nitrite spike. I had just got this tank in the january and put my old media from the other tank into it, but that wasn't properly cycled. I was doing 3-4 water changes a day. Oh I remember it well. Like I said, we all learn from our mistakes.

So here is my tank after it's been stripped down. Kept the plants to the right and the wood on the left.

I rearranged my fry tank too whist doing a water change. Did a 50% one today as I am bored of the tannin coloured water!

Nothing spectacular.

My other white platy fry-this one has a lot of black spots I think he's adorable and looks like a dalmatian.

And that's it now-promise :p

Finally found the high fins in your journal. I think I need water now. Lol. I really like the ones you had. So cool. My lfs only has the long fin/sail fin ones :( . I don't prefer those because it looks like the fin causes a lot if drag. I like tge sporty spike of the high fin :3.

Thanks lolo, the red one I had was the only one with the long fin. He never produced any fry. I loved my silver male the best. His striking contrast of black fins. I have never seen them in dobbies since :( I really want a special male for this white girl. I am very fussy so I can reach my goal.I will phone them before hand and see if they can get them in for me. If not, I will need to find another white male.

I am about 75% sure my platy has dropped her fry. I just hope they are hiding in the "jungle" and I will see them emerge in a few weeks time. If not I will be very disappointed :(

I have taken a pic of the newest fry who were a week old yesterday. Now, I was certain that these babies were fathered by the black male. I am not so sure now. The last batch who are 5 weeks old now, were obviously his because they were very  dark when they were born with the exception of 2. This batch is a real mixed bag and I am very excited to see what they turn out like! There are some light grey, some grey and some half black. Pics!

I missed it again

really hope there are some survivors. I shall see in a few weeks. Saying that though, I don't know if it's because there's different sizes of fry in the tank-the 1 week old ones who I couldn't catch have been out in the open and not even the barbs bothered them. I think the other fish are used to fry now. Lets hope so.

My all black male has been missing all day. This is not like him and come to think of it-I can't remember if I saw him yesterday or not
noexpression.gif
I am fearing the worst.

Still no sign of the black male. I don't think he's alive anymore :(

Oh noes! Maybe he went rambo and decided to find trouble in the jungle. I hope he comes about for you. Comes back with a necklace of empty snail shells or a bouquet of algea he's been machete-ing so you don't have to.

Good luck to you.

That actually made me lol! In all seriousness though, I think he's gone. I put algae wafers in to tempt him out last night, everyone else starting eating them but no sign of him. When I put the tank lights on, he didn't come out.
It's not all bad though, I have about 10 of his babies who are a month old and 17 who are a week old I think some are his from there some of them are light but we will see. I will keep a select few males from them if they resemble him which I hope they do.

Ny you're not having much luck :(  I hope he reappears.

The platy definitely looks thinner, any sign of new fry yet?
