Planned Fry Journal Just For Fun :)

How about keeping a log book... Hark at me like I'm sooo organized... not !

Love the pics. Your deco in the tank is to die for. Branches are so lovely!

I doubt anyone ever changes filters after they are established but just an fyi the aquaclear filters are so quite I check if they are on sometimes. :3

Your batches are so big! I remember back in the day I always found 20 something fry. This time around in the hobby I got 15 once which my high fin babes all came from but other than that I find like 6 at the most

Pete - I try and use this journal but it's obviously not helping :p
Lolo-Thank. I changed the setting to "b" and it's stopped chugging, I think "A" was too strong for them. However, I also keep checking it's on!
Back when I started 6 was my magic number, I used to be envious of all the others who had loads of fry and I find just 6!

One of the babies from batch 1 has this thing hanging out from it. Please bear with me, my description isn't very good. I thought it was a growth, then I thought it was giving birth-but not at 2 months old. It almost looks like a bubble, and there's something bright red. I thought it was poop, it's been there since yesterday. He is also very skinny, probably can't eat because whatever it is, he can't pass it. I am going to get some peas today to help him. He spent most of the day yesterday next to the filter. I will try and get a pic. He isn't out in the open much.
I also found another 3 fry to add to batch 3. In another few weeks I will be emailing the people I have on standby to rehome batch one.

I managed to get some pics of the poor fry. Here they are.

I might put it in the emergency section.

Sorry Ny...Just saw where you mention it was red. Could it be a prolapse in such a young one? Still thinnking injury of some sort though. Hope little one makes it.

It's ok, thanks for the reply, I put in the emergency section about the other side being red. I hope he makes it too, i've never seen anything like this before in 2 years of breeding. Poor thing.

Here's momma platy. As you can see she's huge! It wont be long now. I am debating whether to move her or not. Platy babies have such a strong instinct to remain hidden, they should be ok.

For those who didn't see it in the emergency section, I had to humanely euthanise the fry.

All is not lost though-just found another 3 fry from the same batch as a few days ago in the main tank! They have survived this long, I will leave them in there.

Yes. It looked like intestines to me. Thats sad. But at least the discomfort is over.

Haha! You have 6 fry now! Just like me and before in the past!

Where did u get the branches? I can't stop thinking about them

I know, poor little guy, I didn't even see it before.

No Lolo I have 23 fry now!!! 12 from the first batch, 2 platy fry from the 2nd, 12 or so from the 3rd which are the half blacks and now 23 from a few days ago

I actually found the branch outside. Soaked it, stripped it and shoved it in the tank lol. It was dead anyway.

The newest fry I have are turning black so they are definitely fathered by my black guppy!
Momma platy still hasn't dropped! It's probably because I noticed she's huge and I didn't know last time. I will just leave her to it she can have them when she's ready.

I hope they go all black like their dad. Thanks! I can't wait for them to grow lol

Morning all!
I can't actually tell if the female platy has dropped yet or not. She's always been round, she's not as big as yesterday and she's never had a gravid spot-hence why I didn't expect fry last time. Her fry are so important but there's nothing I can do, just need to wait and see :(
