UPDATE - I did take out some more water. Now I also have another question. Since hes sick and in lot alot of water - How do I do daily water changes? Do I take him out completly and change the water? Wont that stress him out more?
Thanks

If you have a clean never used turkey baster, you can suction water in and out with it without having to take him out of the bowl. Just take a couple of baster's full out and then add some clean with the same baster. Do it several times until you feel that most of the water in the bowl is fresh. This is the same way I acclimate new fish to my tanks. I suction out a baster full of water from the LFS bag and pour it out. Then I put a baster full of tank water in. I just repeat the process for however long it takes for me to feel like I've completely changed out the water.

If you don't have access to a turkey baster right now, you could do the same thing with a solo cup. Just ease it into the water and let it fill up. Dump that water and fill it up with clean and lower it back into the betta's tank or bowl. Just keep repeating until you feel the water is clean.

PS: The turkey baster is also good for cleaning up poo or food without changing the entire bowl.

HTH :)

I dont have access to a turkey baster so I will use that cup method you mentioned.
Thanks and I will update later on...

Twist is sitting in his tree with his head up. Not out of the water though, but he could get air if he needed to. His breathing seems to be slowing down... :-(
He also seems to have more white stuff on his body...

Hes trying to swim but it seems like he cant his whole body straight like a healthy betta would. His back end is down not straight.
What would of caused this? And why would he be doing this?
:-(

UPDATE - He has survived the night again but theres really been no chance since I brought him home 2 days ago.
Any more suggestions?

Bettamom - His water temp is about 74 F. He does not have a heater though.

I wonder if he doesn't have some sort of infection - you might want to consider treating him with medication if he doesn't improve. Do you live somewhere that you could make a trip to a lfs or a PetSmart today?

Bettamom - Yes I can make a trip to the lps today. I have to work very soon but I can pick it up on my way home from work and treat him when I get home. I hope that wont be to late.
I have noticed that he does have some white stuff on his sides. Could that be fungas? He dosent move alot and hes not eating either.
What type of medication should I get?
Thanks

I would get some Maracyn.
Not only will that treat the potential fungus he has, but it should help with the infection he probably has going on which is causing his swimming problems. Dosing it might be kinda tricky - you'll have to figure out how much water he's in to know dosage. The problem with it is that the tablets come in dosage sizes for 10 gallons. Cutting the tablets down isn't that hard, but you might have to crush one of them up and divide it up with a razor blade or something. I can help you out with the maths on how to get it divided, etc. One other thing - if you can hit a drug store or some store that sells those syringe things (not the kind w/needles but the kind that you dispense liquid from) get one. It will make your life MUCH easier. You can also get an eye dropper kind of thing for dispensing medicines to little kids, too. Make sure it measures ml.

I can help you figure out how to do it all later on when you get back from work.
You will only need to get the smallest amount of medication - I think it's an 8 pack.

Thank you bettamom ;) I will get some maracyn. What about bettafix? Would that help as well?
