first of would like to thank steelheair for that write up on piranah's. Learned a lot. Any way i am new to predatory fish have been doing alot of reading i still have a few question about feeding. I have read a lot about how often to feed from 1 a day at the LFS to 2 a week. I only at the time have 1 red belly about 5- 6 inches in lenght. How often should i. i dont want him to starve, nor over feed him, also about food earthworms can be feed i have read. What do you do can you dig a hole and scoop them out and then just wash them off and use them???

I red belly in a tank by itself should be fine if it is fed once a day or every couple of days. The more you feed it, the more water changes you will have to do to keep the water clean. Less food means less water changes.

The fish won't starve if it is only fed every couple of days. Mammals use most of the food they eat to keep warm, whereas fish take their body temperature from the water. This means any food they eat goes into growth and swimming around. This means fish can go for weeks or even months without food.

Earthworms are fine for food and you can grow them in a worm farm or dig them out of the garden. If there are chemicals in the garden there won't be any worms. Once you have the worms give them a quick rinse under the tap and then feed away. Raw frozen but defrosted fish and prawn should be fed as well as a good quality granule/ pellet food.
