SimonA, i am 14 too, and i totally understand your pain. I spent a few months begging my parents for my aquarium, ended up getting it as a reward for good grades. Keep strong, just remember how much happier your fish will be when you get them the new tank.

Not actully my angel is a bit of an oddball as you would say and the angel and the neons have been living in harmony for months.

My angelfish have eatten two hatchetfish, both hatchets were in the tank for months.. and my angels arent even close to being fully grown. Also I've gave them a feeder guppy once (the guppy was nipping the crap outta the baby angels in a 10gal grow out tank) so i threw em in with the big ones and munch they ate him on the spot.

I know how hard it is to come by money for a new tank and accessories. Don't sweat it, I'm sure your fish will do fine until you get that larger tank. They've been doing well before now, right? I'm sorry to hear that everyone seems to be hard on you at the moment, but they are just showing compassion for fish. You may want to check out the newspaper for a used tank. I found one recently for a 36 gal w/ stand for $50. Also, since you are 14, you may want to try seeing if you can do a little extra chores around the house and perchance you'll get rewarded from your folks.

I had a guppy with my angel and it didnt go for it.

Good news I have got another 5 gal tank yesturday it was the only tank I could find in the classified ads and ym mum got it for me.

Hi SimonA

That's great news. You have doubled your water capacity. That will buy you a little time so you can look for the big tank you want to eventually get.

If you follow the ideas in that thread I gave you, something good will happen. There really are lots of people who have old tanks and accessories tucked away in their basements or garages.

If you just keep asking, someone will either make you a great deal or give you one. Since you are 14 years old, you could even offer to trade some services (such as lawn mowing, gardening, leaf raking, etc.) for it instead of money.

Good luck to you. Even if you don't get what you want right away, keep trying and you will be successful.

that is a very nice looking angel, but as you should know, there is no way he will survive in a 5 gal tank! if you cannot afford a tank that is atleast 18"s tall, please sell or give him away to a good home! and yes neons are angels natural food, just because he hasnt eaten them yet, doesnt mean he wont! good luck, i hate to be another, "tank to small" person, but that tank is way too small

would u like to be bareated on an open forum in front of 6000 veiwers? over somthin u may have not known any different about..

just latley this forum has got very good at bareatin ppl instead of teachin them.

sayin stuff like 'ohh that tanks over crowded get a new tank' ect isnt exactly learnin, and if u phrase it as others have, the offended person prolly wont listen to anythin u say, wich in a way can cause more harm.
without givin a valid reason for gettin a bigger tank, ur just makin a very loud noise that no one is listenin to.
