pics of my 120 gallon

well i hit a snag. Ijust found out Silicone will not hold the plexiglass together. I should have researched this more :X I put water in to leak test it got about 60 gallons in it and the bottom blew out and flooded the garage. i just had to open the garage doors and sweep the water out. I ordered some acrylic cement hopefully it will be here soon so i can continue this tank. I still have 4 more to make
Well I have also started on my betta barracks i have about 26 cups to put my babies in when they get bigger and have purchased a sterilizer also.the only major purchase left on it now is the gutters and a pump. i still need some valve for the PVC to regulate water flow to the betta cups.I think i will buy a rubbermaid container for a sump holder that looks to be the common way to do it.
Now off to peel the silicone of the plexiglass and to get it ready for the plexiglass cement.

Hi can you please tell me how you go aboult makeing a betta baracks ?? what do you need the gutters for  as im looking to makeing one but dont have a clue

well this will be my first one, but the gutters are to catch the overflow from my cups. the cups will have a hole to drain the water as it overflows so i can keep a continuous flow. You can put the hole or slit at any level there are pros and cons to each. if you put the hole low, it will help recirculate the water better but would cause a problem if a pump went out and you werent there, to refill it, plus you would need a regulator so it wouldnt flush the water out at once. Doing the cut high enough the water wouldnt recirculate as good but if the pump went out and the water stopped they could stay alive for a while.
The water would drain from the holes into the gutter. from the gutter you have two options and i am still debating on what to do. most people let the gutter drain to the sump , some let that trickle to the next layer of betta condos. After that they continue down however many layers or rows of bettas. I can think of pros and cons both ways just havent decided.

crap, you are so lucky to be able to build your own tank.
no kidding... if i could build tanks my room wouldnt have walls showing, just 100's and 100's of tanks lol

how is that chart right... it said my tank was 5G... it is 12'' long 18'' high and 8'' deep... and it said it was 5G (really is 20)

Actually.......if you have a 48" long chances are it is 12" deep, like mine, therefore it's 55 gallons......but if you have a 48" long tank that is 24" deep you'd obviously be DOUBLING the volume....therefore making it 110gall......my tank is only 21" so I'm using that as an example but since theirs/yours are 24" tall that gives you the other 5 gallons of water x 2 or double the thickness is 110gall + 5 and 5 = 120......

Sorry, just doing some figuring out loud!!!

BTW........AWESOME projects!!!

this is what i got when putting your dimensions in df4l

Tank Volume Calculator
Tank Capacity:
Litres: 28.32
US Gallons: 7.48
UK Gallons: 6.23

so maybe you got your litres and gallons mixed up?
